Benefits of mixing your own massage oil

SOiL

[Ad- gifted product] I have back pain. I think it’s a pain most of us can really understand and relate with. When I was young, I was kicked by a horse and have had back pain ever since. One of the best ways to get rid of this back pain is through back massages. Not only do massages feel relaxing and great, but revealing pain is a big part of why I constantly want and enjoy back rubs! If you are a fan of massages, one of the key things to take your massage up to the next level is through using massage oil. I’ve enjoyed a variety of massage oils over time, but found that SOiL has some great options, especially when it comes to mixing your own oil to have the perfect blend for yourself. When it comes to mixing your own massage oil, you need two different oils; a carrier oil and an essential oil.

SOiL Organic Avocado Carrier Oil

I’ve not previously used a carrier oil that was made from avocados, so this oil really stuck out to me. Your carrier oil is the oil that you use most in your mix, with your essential oil being used sparingly. The SOiL Organic Avocado Carrier Oil has a beautiful, almost golden color to it. This oil contains high amounts of vitamin A, D, and E – which makes it ideal for sensitive or dry skin. My skin is mixed in complexity, but I do move towards items made for sensitive skin, as I found that they are just nicer! It’s worth noting that the avocado carrier oil can be used to soothe skin conditions like nappy rash, eczema, and psoriasis as well. This oil does warm on your skin while messaging the oil and is very nice on our skin. We, of course, mixed this carrier oil with a bit of essential oil both for something nice to smell and some aromatherapy.

SOiL Citronella Organic Essential Oil

SOiL

Our essential oil of choice, chosen by Dann himself, was the SOiL Citronella Organic Essential Oil. Dann does enjoy the smell of Citronella and this oil is lemon scented with the aim to uplift and cleanse the body and mind. It’s also suggested that citronella can protect against colds and flu, which we could all use some protection from! When it comes to essential oils, you only need a small amount – a few drops per 10ml of the carrier oil – to carry this scent and use it’s properties to help your skin. We found this oil to be pleasant in scent and feel very nice, when diluted, on our skin.

Final Thoughts

It’s worth noting that these oils are very high quality at super affordable prices! The bottles that they come in have small stoppers in the top, only allowing a small amount out of the bottle at once, which is really nice when it comes to giving massages. SOiL is a lovely company, being the first company in South Africa to sell a complete range of 100% organic essential oils, most of which have been grown on their own organic farm in Zululand. This commitment to being completely organic shines through to further boost the quality of the oil – and quality is always important to me when it comes to anything I put on my skin.

Mixing your own carrier oil and essential oil will ensure that you are able to get a scent you’d like, vitamins that you feel your body would need, as well as benefits from the oil that you’d like to have – so it’s well worth taking the time to explore different essential oils and carrier oils depending on your needs. SOiL has a bunch of different carrier oils and essential oils – which provide a variety of different benefits, all explained on their pages so you can get the full idea of what each one does. Once you start using massage oil, I am sure you won’t turn back, as they make massages much nicer – your hands no longer feel like they are pulling at skin, your skin won’t feel rubbed raw, it’s just a necessity. Essential oils can also be used for aromatherapy and be added to your bath to help your skin as well.

I used to work with an essential oils wellness advocate and learned so much about their therapeutic benefits. I haven’t heard of an avocado carrier oil before though, how intriguing! Lisa

Your post inspired me to go get the massage oil out of the cupboard and check the label. I love a good massage and I know what we use is all natural but I have never checked the main ingredients. Much to my surprise our Wildfire massage oil uses olive oil and jojoba oil. The essentials oils and herbs they infuse completely change the oil as I can’t smell the olive oil in it at all.
