Cards vs Gravity – Stacking, Falling, Fun

[Ad- gifted product] When it comes to games that can be fun for all ages and travel well, Big Potato Games creates the best of the best. Cards vs Gravity is our latest look at one of their casual, fun, and travel friendly games that we were extremely excited to get our hands onto. This board game does require you to have a bottle to play. You can either use a glass bottle that can be empty or a plastic bottle that is at least half full of liquid.

Once you have your bottle, you can place in the green topper, which fits in any type of bottle due to it’s soft plastic base. The top has a massive magnet, that you can then place a colorful, metal plate on top. Cards vs Gravity is very quick and easy to set up, as the only thing left to do is divide out the cards evenly to each player. These cards are in four different colors; green, blue, pink and yellow, but they also have little shapes on them if you struggle to see the colors clearly. The platform on the top of the bottle also has is divided into these colors. Some wild cards do appear in the deck; a few rainbow cards, a black “blocker” card which is very thick and a think “gravity bender” card.

On a player’s turn, they need to take the top card off their pile and then place it on the right color slot. The base has a little hole on each color and the cards have a hole on each side, giving you a place to slot in other cards. This will either be the first slot on platform or one of the side slots on a card already on the tree of cards. Slowly, these cards will then be built out in a big balancing act! The thicker, blocker card works as a sort of end of the line card, as it’s so think it’s too hard to hang anything on it. The gravity bender on the other hand can be easily place on any card, due to how thin it is! Cards vs Gravity is a game that continues as long as you are placing the cards on the tree, however, if you all run out of cards players will then get to select a card on the tree and force another player to move it. We didn’t quite get that far in our game.

Our entire family played Cards vs Gravity at Geek Retreat before Kai had his DnD session. It’s a really fantastic, short game that players can dip in and out of. There is a lot of tense moments, especially when it comes to watching another player add a card onto the tower. We ended up also playing a round where everyone tried to move as quickly as possible, at the same time, trying to get rid of their pile of cards by placing them on the tower. I do really enjoy that Cards vs Gravity also comes with a travel bag that has a clip on it, to be put on the outside of bags. It’s a great little game!

This is exactly the kind of thing I love to keep on hand when I’m traveling with the family. You can set it up anywhere!

I was a bit confused at first looking at your photos. I was like ‘How are the card’s balancing like that’ Then realised they are magnetic. This sounds like a really fun game for all the family to play.

The cards themselves aren’t magnetic, but instead they ar ehard plastic and stuck inside the gap of the other one!

We are a game family over here; we have game night every weekend, but I have not heard of this one before, so I’ll surely check it out. Seems like a lot of fun.
