If you follow me on social media, you will know that Dann and I are a big fans of day trips and weekends away. Though we do have a lovely pet sitter who does check on and feed our pets whenever we are away for large amounts of time, there are times when we are just away for the evening, getting home super late. Pancake is not a huge fan of being fed late and does get very grumpy when his special, wet food dinner is delayed, so we decided to try out the Catit PIXI Smart Meal Feeder. We do have dry food out for grazing, generally, but feed all three of our cats wet food at the same time each day.
The Catit PIXI Smart Meal Feeder is a large, cute, cat bowl like smart device that allows you to put up to six meals, treats, or small snacks for your cat into a single bowl. You can then either feed your furry friend small meals throughout the day, give them treats at specific times, or time their dinner to the exact hour they demand it. The bowl does come apart easily, allowing you to pull out the tray to fill up your six meals, as well as pull out two ice packs, which will keep their wet food fresh and cool for at least a full day.
You can set when your Catit PIXI Smart Meal Feeder is going to feed your cats via the app on your phone or through the digital display screen on the cat feeder itself. This display shows the time it currently is, the time the next feed is, the bowl number that will rotate next into the opening, the battery level and the Wifi as well. The app also is very easy to use and shows a log of what meals have been served and what meals are scheduled, as well as when.
We’ve not had any issues with setting the time, both in the app and on the screen itself, as it really works! We also have pushed meals a bit early via the app, allowing them to trigger a bit before. Our cats have found that if we aren’t hope, they should just wait by the feeder, and do tend to leave it alone even when it has food in it, if the food is not dispensed.
It’s worth noting you can use batteries which can work for about four days, or just plug in your feeder using the provided cable. We opted to just have ours plugged in at all times, as we have a few different robots plugged in for our cats. The tray itself, which isn’t labeled as dishwasher safe, is very easy to remove and clean in the sink, which is always a plus. The Catit PIXI Smart Feeder has been a great feeder, especially when using it when we are out for the evening or to provide consistency when it comes to food. For those who like to feed their cats specific amounts of food and want to spread it out throughout the day, it would likely help a lot with that or with feeding while someone is away at work!

This looks like a very useful feeder. We have a cat and sometimes we are out quite late so this would be an awesome idea.

We have a very similar feeder for our cats as we don’t have to worry when we’re out for the day or even stay away overnight. They’re so clever x

What a great little device! I knew there were basic feeders, but this has so many great features. It is nice to know this is an option for when we have late nights or we are away for a few days.
