Costco is so well known in America, and seems to have just grown in popularity with haul culture and Tiktoks! As an American who has never been to the American Costco, I have always been curious if it would really live up to the hype in the United Kingdom. We’ve got a few friends that go to Costco regularly, but haven’t had the chance to go ourselves, until one evening Dann decided to look it up (possibly due to them selling my absolute favorite American fruit snacks), and realize he qualified for Trade Member due to his job. We then got Trade cards and decided to check out this massive shop. We’ve been going for a few months now, and often only pick up one or two things (along with those legendary free samples, which you can see me enjoying on Reels – yes we have samples in the United Kingdom), and have quickly picked up a bunch of favorites.
Doughnut Bites
Are the doughnut bites a dessert or a breakfast? We eat ours as both, to be honest! There are three flavors in the pack; strawberry, caramel and hazelnut. These little donuts are one of Robin’s favorite things to eat, as she often has them for breakfast and as a little treat in her packed lunches. My personal favorite is the strawberry flavor. To me, the hazelnut tastes just like chocolate and the caramel has a lot of vanilla flavors, where as the strawberry really tastes of strawberry. Our household isn’t a huge bakery section home, so this is my top bakery item to pick up.
Pretzel Crisps
Pretzel Crisps are something I’ve had my whole life. In America, there are tons of pretzels. These flat ones work as a cracker or as a crispy snack. I really like dipping them in hummus or cream cheese. They are just really satisfying as a crunchy, salty snack and the flat ones are really hard to come by outside of Costco.
Pancake Cereal
If you read the back of the box, Pancake Cereal came from that Tiktok trend where people were making bowls of mini pancakes. These are individually portioned into different packs, so that they stay fresh (unlike normal cereal unless you eat it fast enough!) You can very easily cook them in the microwave or in a pan, to get them nice and warm. From there, topping with wiped cream, fruit and maple syrup creates a really fun pancake experience. These have been super fun to have as a breakfast or snack.
Fiery Dirty Wedges
There are a lot of pre-made foods at Costco. You can get fully loaded burritos, Korean BBQ, taco kits and much more. My favorite pre-made thing that they tend to have all the time is the Fiery Dirty Wedges. These are potato wedges covered in peppers, cheese, onions and spring onions, with a really refreshing dip. Kai is also a big fan of this – he really finds them to be the perfect spice level for him, and I agree! They are also really easy to cook up in the oven and go well with a lot of meals.
Blue Agave Syrup
Agave syrup is sort of like a honey alternative – or that’s what we use it for! Dann is a huge fan of agave syrup, and the Blue Agave syrup at Costco is nice and sweet. This works well in cocktails and in recipes, as well as a topping for pancake cereal as well. It’s got a great texture and the price at Costco cannot be beat, especially considering it’s organic. If you’ve not tried agave syrup, it’s well worth picking one up.
Brownie Bites
The Two-bite brownie bites are something that I got to try as a sample and really quite enjoyed. They are moist, chocolatey, and taste a lot like a more decadent version of the Little Debby’s brownie bites I remember from being a child. This box has so many bites that it lasts quite some time, even with their more-ish feel to them. They do take two big bites!
Naan Dippers
There is just something so fun about mini-versions of anything! These Naan Dippers actually puff up and get really airy in the air fryer, which was surprising. They work well, again, with dips like hummus and guac, which I do enjoy. I also like them as mini pizza doughs for a homemade Lunchable pizza box – great for our kid’s lunches. There are tons in the box, as you can imagine, so it’s well worth grabbing them if you like mini-bites-of-bread.
Shiitake Mushroom Crisps
Now, this one is a little out there. Again, a sample I had tried that really stuck out to me and Dann. These Shiitake Mushroom Crisps are like puffed up (imagine a cheese puff) entire mushrooms?! They are very lightly salted – I would personally enjoy a more salted version – and taste like mushrooms. The back of the package says you can cook them up, but I have no idea why you would want too, as dehydrated mushrooms soaked would work better than these. Instead, this feels like a healthier crisp alternative for those who love mushrooms.
Peanut Butter Pretzels
We now always have a bucket of these Peanut Butter Pretzels in our household. They make for a great snack, though our children go to peanut-free schools, so they cannot pack them in their lunches. We do eat plenty of them at home – the peanut butter inside is a lot like the peanut butter in Reese’s peanut butter cup. This means they are a bit dry, but pretzels are already dry, so it’s not that surprising. We all do enjoy snacking on these!
Creme Brulee
Creme Brulee is a wonderful dessert that I really enjoy. These packs of Creme Brulee just require you to put them under the grill of your oven, to crystalize, and then they become the perfect dessert without all the effort. These are well worth the price, and the glass containers that they come in are great to use for dip pots (you can really tell we eat a lot of dips here) and crafting. These are just fantastic.
I NEVER leave Costco without their donut bites and at least two boxes of pancake cereal. That stuff is so good!
What the what? Pancake cereal? Those are my TWO favorite breakfast foods. I have to check for them next time I’m at Costco.
I buy those mushroom crisps in bulk for my son when he comes home to visit from college. He’s addicted to them! LOL.
My daughter would love pancake cereal. Those mushroom crisps look interesting. I have never seen those before.
We love their cookies and muffins as well, I need to sort out our membership and take a visit
Can’t wait to try out those doughnut bites for breakfast and dessert – they sound like a hit with the whole family!
Costo has great buys for the family! These all look like tasty suggestions. I have to try their doughnuts.
We have a Costco about 5 miles away and I have never been. My husband really wants to get a card and shop there as we think it would be great for bulk buying things
