Creating Sparkling Cards with Craft Buddy Disney Character Cards

Craft Buddy

[Ad- gifted product] This time of year is a big time for cards. We are always doing a lot with Christmas cards, from the children picking out cards to send into school to creating cards for Santa and for their family. Each year, we do create a large amount of Christmas cards that are aimed at wowing our friends and family This year, however, we had Amelia and Robin try out the Craft Buddy Crystal Cards, which had them creating a Mickey Mouse card and an Olaf card for their friends.

When I was a child, we had color by numbers – where you needed to color a picture based on the number showcased in the area. Crystal Art cards from Craft Buddy are a similar concept, but instead of coloring, we are placing beautiful, sparkling gems onto the card. Amelia has previously done gem art and was a pro – telling me exactly how it all works. Basically, the card itself is like a giant sticker. There are a bunch of baggies of gems, which are tipped into a tray. Then, you can use a little pen-like tool to pick up the gems and squish them into the card. This pen is pushed into wax, so that there is wax in the tip, which is how it picks up the gems.

Creating the cards themselves were very fun. Robin is only five years old, however these cards are for eight and up, but she really wanted to try it out. We did hers together, supervising her, but she was able to pick up the gems and get them placed on quite easily, using the back of the pen to move the gems around and ensure they are perfectly in place. Amelia didn’t need any help as she started stamping the gems onto her card.

Both of these cards took a little over an hour to fully make, with the Mickey Mouse card being much bigger than the Olaf Card. Both of them sparkled when done, and the girls were really proud of their creations. We actually had a lot of extra gems too, despite spilling gems several times, which is a big plus. I feel they give you tons and tons so that you can surely finish your card. Amelia and Robin both picked friends to give their special card too, and were really happy with how much it glittered! Adding the gems is quite relaxing, and feels like a mindfulness activity, which are good to put into your routines. Craft Buddy cards are perfect for keeping little ones busy and creating a nice card for the holidays! Unlike the larger crystal sets, this one can be completed in one sitting, which is nice.

This post is a part of our Blogmas series, with each and every post being about Christmas or Winter.

I never did the crystal artwork but this reminds me of that and I wanted to do it so much. A nice way to keep the kids quiet and occupied x
