Custom Paint by Numbers from Davincified

[Ad – Gifted Products] Paint by Numbers is a concept that has been around for so long! It’s just one of those classic things that feels perfect for a rainy day or a bit of calm time in the afternoon. Davincified has a selection of paint by number kits where you can upload your own images and allow them to create a custom kit for you. Some of these kits just transform your picture into a paint by number canvas, while others can edit the picture to make it look like a magical scene or like your person can be in a Disney film, for example. It’s a very interesting idea, with so many options, making it a great gift idea for someone too.

For our custom Paint by Numbers from Davincified, we uploaded a picture of Popcorn and some sunflowers, without gaining any edits on it. They then sort of show you a preview, before you hit submit. The painting came quickly, on a large canvas, complete with a few paint brushes and tons of pots of paint. These paints weren’t numbered on the top, and instead were numbered through he packaging around them. We put the included number stickers on each one, so that we could know what number each one was without having it in the packaging.

Then, we started painting! Robin, Amelia and I all worked on our paint by numbers in the evening and afternoon over several days. There were so many tiny, tiny little spots of color that needed coloring in – probably too many for us to find it fun. It seems like these paintings are for very serious paint by numbers people, as there are just so many tiny details. We found ourselves dividing the work into sections, going through them slowly, trying to make sure we stayed in the lines. Some of the areas for specific numbers were actually quite hard to stay within, so soon we started building on top of other colors, so that we could do big blocks of areas and then paint on top of them once they had dried. It is neat that the underneath of each area does have a slight coloration, letting you know what color roughly needs to be painted on top.

Davincified had plenty of paint, so we didn’t run out, despite there being so much to actual paint! The brushes themselves were only OK, and we ended up swapping them for some of our own, especially when it came down to the smaller details. The canvas was decent quality and in the end our picture did come out very well, but it did take a LOT of painting to actually finish it off. If you don’t normally do paint by numbers, it might be best to start with a picture that has less little details in it, if that’s possible! I do feel there should be a way to ask them to not create such small little details, as that would have made the whole experience more fun for us all.
