Don’t Be a Scaredy Bear – Silly Children’s Game

[Ad- gifted product] We have a small collection of games that I would call silly. These are the ones that we often see younger ones playing again and again, on their own, as it’s just something so silly they they enjoy playing around with them. Don’t Be a Scaredy Bear is a silly game where you need to pull plasters off of a big bear, who can freak out if you find yourself pulling the plaster off too roughly.

Setting up Don’t be a Scaredy Bear was quite simple. We did need to add our own batteries, then Robin and Amelia pulled the backs off of the Velcro and put them inside each of the various rectangles that were on the bear. We then put the matching plaster on each of the Velcro parts. That’s basically it! On the back of the bear, there is a dial that allows you to pick how difficult the game is, but we didn’t feel this had too much of a different in the middle, with the biggest difference being between easy and hard. On easy, it was nearly impossible to make the bear jump, but on hard it was semi-random feeling.

You see, on your turn, you need to spin the spinner in the middle of the bear. This will then start a song which works as a timer. You need to then hold one hand on the base of the game and use the other hand to pull the plaster off the bear that appears on the spinner. If you pull of the plaster without the bear shouting and opening up their mouth, you must then press the button on top of the spinner, to end the song. The bear then makes a sound of relief. We really enjoyed the music as a timer and all of the sounds the bear made, which makes the whole thing feel very interactive!

Don’t Be a Scaredy Bear has plenty of ways to interact; we started playing a speed round where we were trying to get all of one color off before the bear’s time ran out, without him shouting. The instructions also talk about a mode where you spin the spinner, change the difficulty to the same color, then try to pull off the plaster before the timer runs out. Every time the bear did shout, it surprised us all, which felt very fun too!

This seems like a cute and fun interactive game! Sometimes something simple and silly is all you need. PS: Also, how did I not know in some countries band-aids are called plasters… learn something new everyday!
