As mentioned previously, Doughnut Time has done a few Christmas DIY kits! We tried the Gingerbread ones, and then ordered up the basic Christmas DIY Kit as well, to see how they compared. This box came with a variety of different Christmas-themed donuts and candies, which is really quite a fun family activity. The idea is that you can decorate these doughnuts, however you’d like, using the variety of different toppings and icings in the box.
The Christmas DIY Kit contains two red ring doughnuts, two regular doughnuts, a bag of chocolate gaze, a bag of red glaze, a bag of green glaze, and then a bunch of candies! There are chocolate coins, malteser reindeer, a candy can, some white chocolate curls, white chocolate stars and Christmas sprinkles! Once you have your doughnuts out, you can cut the tip of your icing bags and start decorating. We normally do all of the icing first, before adding toppings. Doughnut Time recommends waiting 5 to 6 minutes for the icing to dry, but we never really do.
Instead, we add the different candies and eat it all up! It’s a great time, even if our doughnuts are a bit messy. This kit, as always, had plenty of extra icing and toppings, really, after decorating outs out to the max. You can spend the next week slowly covering whatever you eat in these icings and sprinkles. We crushed the candy cane so more people could have it, and also unwrapped the candy coins as that seemed to make more sense. The white chocolate stars were really fun – having one for each doughnut would have been good. I slightly wished there was an option to get all red, but the idea of red and white was quite a fun time.
Unlike the previous, gingerbread kit, this kit was not vegan – which is fine for our household but worth mentioning. Doughnut Time is also doing a giant doughnut wreath DIY kit for Christmas, but we are enjoying the individual doughnuts at the moment. These kits are great as a nice activity with the family or as a big treat that is over the top.
This post is a part of our Blogmas series, with each and every post being about Christmas or Winter.
Great idea
Thank you!
