[Ad- gifted products] Our household loves Higgidy! Whether it is picnic time or we are looking for quick, yummy food to take with us on the go, we often reach for Higgidy products. Recently, they have announced their brand new range of Veggie Slices and sent us some as a sneak preview, before they come into our local supermarkets on April 27th.
Excited to try these out, we heated ours up in the oven. They can also be eaten straight out of the package, of course, if you don’t want to spend the time heating them up or would rather pack them into a lunch that you can eat on the go. Higgidy has three different flavors for these slices, which we are going to talk about individually.
Mature Cheddar and Onion Chutney Slice
My favorite Higgidy slice, hot and cold, is the Mature Cheddar and Onion Chutney slice. It’s so cheesy, has a good amount of onion, and plenty of filling to pastry ratio. I found the taste to be so delicious, I ate both of the slices myself. The puff pastry is a butter packed pastry, with sesame seeds on the outside, which provide a nice amount of texture as well. I really enjoyed this slice, though warm was my preferred method of eating!
Spinach, Feta and Red Pepper Slice
One of Higgidy’s classic flavors, the Spinach, Feta and Red Pepper slice is a welcomed addition to these new veggie slices. It’s Dann’s favorite slice, both cold and warm, which is packed with flavor. You can really taste the red pepper and feta, which is always a good thing to have plenty of. The puff pastry has a different sort of look, with sun blushed peppers and cheddar crumbs on top, for texture, which add some fun to the outside.
Sweet Potato Katsu Curry Slice
For their entirely new entry to this range, Higgidy went for Sweet Potato Katsu Curry as a slice, which is a really interesting offering. The potato itself is almost like mashed potato and didn’t have much texture, but the flavor of katsu curry was throughout the slice. I preferred this one hot as apposed to cold as well, and really liked the new spin on slices. This slice is topped with a turmeric crumb.
I do really enjoy these new veggie slices, though I am hoping for a mushroom, miso and spinach one to find it’s way into supermarkets, as that is my favorite Higgidy combo! For now, I will be chowing down on these, and enjoying how easy they are to pack into a lunch to go!
These veggie slices look so delicious and they’re very convenient, I hope I can find them in our local store.
They should be dotted around! I see them in Tesco locally.
Mmm I love savory pies and these look really good! I love the sound of the different combos too..hearty and wholesome 😀
They are so, so delicious!
Oohhh these look and sound so good. I would love to have some of these.
I have been really enjoying them!
These look super yummy, I do love the idea of these slices as my lunch option or picnic snack as I don’t like sandwiches. The sweet potato katsu curry is something I am considering getting
I also am not a sandwich fan! And these are great.
I thought these were homemade at first, they look really wonderful and appetising. I’m always looking for more veggie snacks, thanks for sharing.
Not quite homemade!
