It’s been a while since we’ve had a DIY kit from Doughnut time! The kids and I both seemed to have forgotten about them, in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But, when planning the menu for Easter Holidays, we remembered, and figured it would be very fun to decorate some donuts together as a family before eating them up! Doughnut Time has a bunch of new kits, including the Hoppy Easter DIY Kit, which is the one we picked for this season!
The Hoppy Easter DIY Kit had quite a bit in it! There are four ring donuts to decorate, which smell amazing and are so fluffy looking just when you open the box. Clearly the stars of the show. Then, to decorate, there are three bags of piping icing in white, pink and purple, as well as a giant bag of delicious pink buttercream. For toppings, there are Easter colored sprinkles, white chocolate shavings, a box of mini-eggs, three gummy fried eggs, three gummy bunny sweets, three gummy flowers sweets, and four little flower candies. It’s plenty to cover the four donuts you have!
The Hoppy Easter DIY Kit box itself has had a big redesign since the last time we had a box – instead of being a box in a box, the box has an insert that places the donuts in their own spaces. It’s all just very well thought out. When it came to the decorating, you just need to cut the tips of the icing bags and then you can start decorating! The three colored icings were very easy (and drippy!) to decorate with, while the buttercream had some issue sticking to the donuts, but did build a lot of height and was the favorite flavor out of all the frostings. Amelia declared it the best buttercream she ever had, and we did cheekily, squirt a bit more after each bite, so our next bite almost had a filling of buttercream.
Everyone had a lot of fun decorating the donuts from the Hoppy Easter DIY Kit and it was easy to share all of the toppings as there was plenty to cover our donuts. Amelia made a bunny on her donut, where as Dann and I, Robin and Kai made a colorful donut with some bunnies hanging out on it, in an Easter-inspired theme. Once we were done, we ate them up and they were fluffy and delicious. I can’t believe we’ve gone this long without these kits and will totally be getting them more regularly again!
I always get so tempted by the donut time kits as they always look like such fun. I love their yummy treats x
They are SUCH a good time.
That’s so cute! Kids look enjoyed and they made wonderful donut ideas. My niece and nephews will surely love this. I’m gonna check this out. Thanks for sharing!
It is a really fun kit to do together as a family.
