How to Make Your Front Yard Look Beautiful

Front yards often tend to be neglected compared to the rest of the home and the backyard. The ironic thing here is that your front yard is more on show than your backyard would be, so you have to be able to show your front yard the same care and consideration that you would choose the back. The smallest of spaces can become green, inviting and alive if you are offering that curb appeal that you’ve been looking for in your home?

Finding the time to turn your front yard into a paradise isn’t always easy to do. But there is so much that you can do with the space if you give yourself the right tools and the right time. Take a look at how you can make your front yard look beautiful with our helpful tips:

  1. Trim your hedges. With a decent hedge trimmer, you can immediately make your front yard look wonderful. Overgrown and wild bushes look great if you’re in the countryside, but if it’s your front yard in your suburb, you might want to make those hedges and shrubbery look wonderful by giving it a cut. Shearing your shrubs and trees can help to beautify your front yard, and you can have fun with it too. You can go with tightly clipped pyramids or chess pieces, or you can even go with other fantastical or geometric shapes. There are lots of choices that you can make here, and all of them are going to make your front yard beautiful.
  2. Hang in baskets. Planting your own hanging baskets is one of the best ways that you can make your front yard look lovely. It’s also a very enjoyable activity to do with you. So much reward for such little effort. You can choose a statement thriller plant to act as your focal point from Heliotrope to Angelonia. Complement this with Silver leaf, Artemisia or Purple Sage. If you choose bright colours, you can make your hanging baskets stand out and pop. You can go with a multitude of colours, or you can choose a colour theme that matches your personality.
  3. Sensory space. Your front yard can be an intimate outdoor space that is designed to delight your ears, nose and fingertips, as well as your eyes. Sometimes a sensory space can be stimulating, and sometimes it can be calming. Whatever you’re looking for, you can offer an experience that evokes emotions and aids relaxation. Most sensory spaces are just walks or paths that have the right herbs and plants planted around them. A winding route can work very well as it gives you a chance to slow down and take a look at those new plants that you’ve put in. If your front yard is spacious, Keyhole Gardens could be an excellent idea, as well as comfortable seating in the shade.
  4. Lay a gravel path. If you want to add some structure to your front yard, a gravel path is a great idea. Not only that, but it’s great for security. Gravel paths are notoriously noisy to walk on, which means if you’ve got gravel pathways in your front yard, you’re going to know if someone’s coming. The best part is that you can go for colourful gravel that matches your plants, or you could even go for gravel that is black in colour. Either way, you can have a good aesthetic with gravel.
  5. Plant some trees. Small front yards should never be a deterrent to creating a good visual space, and trees can be wonderful for both privacy and for beauty in your front yard. You could choose to use plants, or you can use some outdoor paint. There are plenty of colors to choose from when you can match the colors of the flowers that you tend to plant too.
  6. Line your path with containers. Container gardening ideas add beautiful highlights to all areas of your front yard, and you can have containers of uniform sizes or containers of different sizes. Either way, you’re adding something different to the front yard. Creating an impactful flower bed display means ensuring that every element works together properly. You need to have your garden shining and this is a great way to do it.

Improving your front yard and making it look beautiful can be done with colour, with shape and with style. With these ideas, you can get started on planning a front yard so that you can offer your home more value added, curb appeal and give yourself a serene space to relax in. It doesn’t have to be all about the backyard.
