[Ad- gifted product] Let’s start off this review by stating that I did not know who Mrs. Brown was before trying these treats and am just here for the food! For those, like me, who are unfamiliar, Mrs. Brown is the main character of Mrs. Brown’s Boys – a comedy TV series in the UK, which features many celebrity guests like Caitlin Jenner and Pamela Anderson. She clearly likes home cooking, which is why they have launched Mrs. Brown’s Kitchen – a line of easy to cook, easy to eat food. These foods are exclusively avaliable in store and online at Iceland.
Currently, this range has two different types of puff pastry crowns; Ham & Cheese and Chicken Fajita. These boxes contain two crowns each and cost just £1.25 – which is a great price point for the foods. They cook straight from the freezer, going into your oven for just 20 minutes, and then you can eat them up! Dann and I tried the Chicken Fajita crowns ourselves.
These Fajita crowns were very nice in flavor – quite saucy with a bit of spice to carry the flavor through. You can see (and taste) the bits of chicken within the crown and the pastry crisps up really nicely in the oven. Two of these will carry you through till dinner if you have them for a lunch, or they make a good side dish to an easy dinner. It’s one of those products that you can just cook up in no time, with no effort, meaning it’s great to just have in your freezer.
We felt that this line of foods were very convent and made for a great light bite. At the price point, it’s well worth picking out some crowns that you enjoy – especially as they live in the freezer, waiting for a lazy day where you need something delicious to enjoy.
I do hope to see more flavors soon, a pizza flavored crown would be welcome, as well as a curry crown!
