Dann and I go to Mui & Koko Noodle Bar roughly twice a month, and have done so for well over a year. We actually call Mui & Koko Noodle Bar “King Du”, which was their previous name, years and years back. They are a Chinese, Japanese and Korean noodle bar, with tons of huge dishes at very good prices. We tend to go often as on Wednesdays we run an event in Harlow Town with our Pokemon Go group. Every other week, we then meet up with our friends from Birmingham and a few regulars to the Pokemon Go event, we all go out to dinner, and then we go to the movies afterwards! Mui & Koko Noodle Bar is quick, delicious, and consistently all of our favorites.
Salt & Pepper Chicken
So my go-to is salt and pepper chicken. I am an American who lives in England. If you didn’t know, American Chinese food is so completely different from Chinese food and English Chinese food, that I really struggle with expectations for what I am getting and what I end up getting. Though Salt & Pepper Chicken does sound really plain and simple, at Mui & Koko Noodle Bar it’s always crispy, has tons of spring onions, garlic and chili flakes. It’s just a fantastic bunch of chicken that never disappoints. They also have salt and pepper octopus and salt and pepper chips, which have the same fantastic seasoning as their chicken.
Tempura Veggies
The tempura veggies are always something I absolutely love eating. There was a time when Mui and Koko Noodle Bar stopped serving tempura vegetables, and I really missed them! Their dip is fantastic, I often get a little extra, as it’s just so tasty. The vegetables, most nights, are sweet potato and bell peppers. They also have a shrimp tempura, which I have heard is fantastic too, but I stick to my vegetables.
Glass Noodles
Dann has really been enjoying the glass noodles, which is full of texture. There are a bunch of sweet potato noodles, vegetables, cabbage, carrots, chicken, sweet corn, bell peppers, onions, and bean sprout. I’ve had this a few times too – it’s a very savory dish that has a lot of taste to it! Previously, our favorite server Ming has said this is a very popular dish by Asians looking for a taste of home.
Yum Yum King Prawns
Dann also quite enjoys ordering the Yum Yum King Prawns, which are super large, breaded prawns in a bunch of delicious sauce. They are always well cooked, with lots of peppers and onions in the sauce. This has been a fairly new favorite now, which he also adds a bit of siracha to, for a kick.

Mui & Koko Noodle Bar has been a favorite for quite some time, and the food has never disappointed. We often also get their Tropical Ice Tea, which is a tasty and refreshing drink, but sometimes we grab boba, depending on the evening. The staff is always extremely friendly and understanding, and the place often has quite a lot of people coming there for food.

It is worth noting that Mui and Koko Noodle Bar can be ordered from for delivery on GoGetters, however, this is actually a completely different kitchen with different recipes. Our household does not prefer the delivery food, as it’s so different and never tastes quite as good.
