My Squishy Little Dumplings – Squishy and Fun | Toy Review

[Ad- gifted product] Just the name – My Squishy Little Dumplings – sounds super fun, so we were all excited to get our hands onto a little dumpling of our own. Robin and Amelia kept saying this was an onion, at first, so we had to completely explain what dumplings are, despite them all trying dumplings before. These toys are little electronic dolls, which work like blind dolls, only showing their dumpling head at first.

What does My Squishy Little Dumpling do?

Once you remove their feet stand, you can squeeze your dumpling’s checks and they will spring to life, popping out a little body. There are four different My Squishy Little Dumplings to collect, each with their own different body color and accessories – called Dee, Dot, Dip and Doe. We got Doe – who has a sleep mask and flower crown as her accessories. Her body is purple, which is nice. You can push your dumpling’s body back into their head, creating their squishy head, which is how Robin enjoys putting her dumpling to sleep. If you hold your dumpling straight, their eyes will be open, but like a classic baby doll, if you dip their head back so they lay down, their eyes close like they are sleeping.

These little characters can learn a bunch of different phrases (they have 50 in total, as well as a Squishionary to understand exactly what they are trying to tell you), sing to you, light up different colors and otherwise interact with the world around them. Over time, you can unlock more of the phrases. Ours started saying Love You, which Amelia and Robin found to be really adorable. They make a big pop sound when you press their checks to pop out their body, and babble to themselves as well. Robin kept making that pop sound as it’s really satisfying. They even sing songs that they enjoy, making them seem like a really interactive little toy. The various colors that our My Squishy Little Dumpling lights up with all have a mood attached to them – pink is loving, yellow is dreamy, orange is amused, green is energetic and red is silly.

We are having a blast with Doe, who has found herself being tickled, played with, brought to bed and put to sleep often. I think that the fact that it’s so whimsical is quite good, we’ve never seen a doll like it. Amelia was hoping, by the word “squishy” that the doll would be more squishy, as it has a silicon feeling and has soft bits, but is also full of electronics, so it doesn’t work like a real squishy.

My Squishy Little Dumplings are a neat new doll that have a lot of ways to interact, and feel quite fun and modern to play with! You can pick up yours at Smyth stores.
