Edible Pineapple and Kiwi Tea from Nim’s | Review

Nim's Edible Pineapple and Kiwi Tea

[Ad- gifted product] Previously, we took a look at Nim’s Vegetable Crisps, which is exactly that: just vegetables dried and packed so that you can enjoy a crispy, healthy and simple snack. Much like their crisps, Nim’s have a range of Edible Teas in both vegetable and fruit flavors. We got our hands on some of Nim’s Edible Pineapple and Kiwi Tea to try out in the new year. As January is known to be a month full of healthy eating and changes in diet as people attempt to have a healthier year, it felt like a perfect fit. We both drink tea from time to time, but neither of us were particularly cutting caffeine out of our diets, which is something this flavoured tea could really help with.

Nim’s Edible Pineapple and Kiwi Tea doesn’t actually contain tea leaves, instead, it is just dried pineapple, kiwi and apple slices. These dehydrated fruits are pre-packed in recyclable plastic, so you can put the tea itself directly in your mug of hot water and let it sit to become flavoured. Working much like a warm version of flavoured fruit water at first, over the course of about 5 minutes, the tea starts to really taste like fruit flavoured tea. The smell of Nim’s tea is also quite delicious, as you can almost instantly start to smell the fruit inside the cup.

We did not mind putting the tea right in our cup, but you can, of course, brew the tea separately and eat it separately

Once your tea is brewed, you can start drinking it and start eating the dried fruit as well. This makes for a little drink and snack combo where you can spoon out some of the dried fruit and enjoy sips of your tea. We can also see people brewing their tea and then scoping out their warm fruit to go on top of porridge or into some yogurt to make a nice breakfast out of. Even just drinking the tea on its own and eating the bits of fruit out of your cup is a very pleasant and tasty experience. Both of us have quite the sweet tooth and tend to add copious amounts of sugar to our coffee and tea, however, we found this tea to be sweet enough on its own without the sugar addition. The fruit, once hydrated, is very flavourful and delicious, though keeping the skin on the kiwi is slightly rough in texture and we both wished that these were peeled first

Nim’s Edible Pineapple and Kiwi Tea is no waste, as the box, the teas came in and the packaging is 100% recyclable. The tea ‘leaves’ don’t end up in any bin, as you can just consume them. This is a very nice idea, especially when it comes to cutting back on waste and the amount of stuff that is being thrown away, providing a fruity and sustainable tea experience. It’s also a very nice tea to give to children who might want to enjoy tea, but shouldn’t really be given much caffeine. If you grab their tea with both the fruit and vegetables in them, it becomes a hidden vegetable tea, something we’ve never even thought of.

If you’re looking to cut back on caffeine in the new year, be a little more health-conscious, or just a fan of fruit flavoured tea, Nim’s Edible Pineapple and Kiwi Tea is a very good option to start with!
