Ooni Pellet Pizza Oven – Quick Fire Pizzas

[Ad- gifted product] When it comes to cooking pizza, everyone knows it’s better in a pizza oven. There is just no way to get your standard oven hot enough to really crisp up the dough at the bottom or to get those air bubble pockets that taste so delicious. As summer is approaching, it’s about time to get your backyard all set up for the season, so we were excited to be adding the Ooni Pellet Pizza Oven to our yard.

Ooni have a range of pizza ovens from gas to wood, but we liked the idea of the pellet-based pizza ovens, as the pellets can be found at a few stores local than us and it feels better than the idea of gas. We also noted that there are different types of pellets that can add different flavor notes to our pizza oven, if we want! The Ooni Pellet Pizza Oven was very easy to set up, the legs on it fold down, making it compact, and the chimney comes completely off too. Dann set it up on a table in our backyard while I got balls of homemade pizza dough ready for the test.

We wanted to have a massive pizza party, so that I could have a few gos at trying to make this pizza oven work. I have previously used pizza ovens on a much larger scale, years ago, so knew the rough way to cook a pizza. We had a bunch of Amelia’s friends over for the party, with them each creating their own pizza. Along with the dough, we had two different sauces or pesto, then cheeses, and toppings like chorizo, spinach, pineapple, ham, mushrooms, and the like. Everyone decorated their own before I used the pizza pallet to lift the pizzas off the table. This also takes a bit of confidence!

Then, we placed the pizzas one at a time into the Ooni Pellet Pizza Oven. I was really surprised at how fast these pizzas cooked. It’s basically under 2 minutes, with rotating the pizza halfway through the cooking process. If you are looking for a fast way to get dinner done, this is really one of the more fun ones! Dann topped up the pizza oven with the pellets, using the scoop provided and putting them into the back funnel. When the funnel is full, it provides for 15 minutes of burn time, so you likely only need one refill if the pizzas are all ready made and waiting to go in. After we were done with our pizzas, we did leave the pizza oven overnight to cool, then it was very easy to take out the back compartment, dust out the embers that were left, and wipe off the pizza stone inside the oven. I am so excited to have a summer of pizza parties and found that the Ooni Pellet Pizza Oven is a fantastic way to do so.
