[Ad- gifted product] You may have guessed, from looking around our site, that we do love a good drink! Dann has reviewed a bunch of beers and we are known to share recipes for cocktails! When we started using OGGS Aquafaba to replace eggs in some of our favorite foods, we figured it would be fun to make a drink using these as the foam-y, egg white replacement! Each container of Aquafaba contains about four eggs worth of fluid, which is great for baking, cooking and mixing drinks! OGGS has their own list of recipes, which can be found on their site, and we took a spin at their Pisco Sour, but were out of Pisco and went for a nice Ouzo instead.
Let’s get into this cocktail!
Ozuo Sour
Ingredients
- 110 ml Ouzo
- 25 ml Water*
- 4 tsp Caster Sugar* * or you can use simple syrup instead of creating your own
- 25 ml Fresh Lime Juice
- 25 ml OGGS Aquafaba
- few drops of bitters
Instructions
- If you do not have simple syrup to hand, put your sugar in a small pan and pour the water over it. Bring this pan to a boil, stirring gently, and simmer for about 1 minute – until the sugars have dissolved.
- Once dissolved, add lime juice and set aside to cool. Once cool, add to your shaker.
- Pour your Ouzo into your shaker, followed by your OGGS Aquafaba and 5 or 6 ice cubes. Shake this mixture hard for 30 seconds, with the lid on of course!
- Fill two small tumblers with ice cubes. Strain drink into the sour evenly over the two classes. It should be nice and foamy!
- Add a few drops of bitters into each glass and a lime to garnish!
This drink is quite sweet – there is no hit of burn that you might associated with drinking alcohol. It’s almost like candy, really. Ouzo has a liquorish taste, but not a super bitter one once you have all of the simple syrup added, so you end up basically drinking a drink that reminds you of candy.
I’ve not drank ouzo for a long time, it might be nice to try it in a cocktail
I hope you enjoy it!
I’ve heard of using chickpea water as an egg substitute but not Aquafaba – love this idea for a cocktail though – raw egg just doesn’t do it for me!

To be honest, I hate raw egg foam too, and this foam was really great!
Oh my! This sounds like it’s right up my alley! Sweet drinks are my favorite. Thank you for sharing!
I am a sweet drink fan myself!
