P for Pizza Kids Menu – Ideal for Younger Children

[Ad- gifted product] When it comes to board games, P for Pizza is one that we’ve played time and time again. It’s a very easy to set up and play game, with no real rules needing explaining, as it feels so natural! We use to play P for Pizza as a starter game for our bi-weekly board games at Geek Retreat, but we found Robin really struggled to keep up with the rest of us, due to being so much younger. When they released P for Pizza Kids Menu, she was really pumped to have a version designed for younger kids!

P for Pizza Kids Menu takes the concept of P for Pizza but makes it more kid friendly. The cards are double sided, with one side having a letter on each of the triangles and the other side having the prompt. This version of the game has one prompt per card, instead of the normal three, which makes them much easier to read and understand quickly. The letters on the outside of the card felt the same as other versions, with a variety of different letters that can be on the outside. Players need to race to answer the middle prompt with a letter that’s on the outside.

The prompts themselves were much more free-form, with ones like “something to eat” or “a good name for a …” With the more vague prompts, like “food you hate”, we could all say guesses and then sort of pick the best replies, which very much evens out the game if you are playing with a wider age range. P for Pizza Kids Menu also has a prompt called Pizza Party which challenges everyone to shout out a pizza topping for every letter touching the prompt, no matter how strange the toppings are. There are other cards that had us laughing out loud like “a good name for a sausage” and “a good name for a poo”. It’s just silly feeling!

Robin felt P for Pizza Kids Menu was much easier and more fun for her, but Amelia (a teenager) found it to be a bit too easy. The end of the game is to get a whole pizza’s worth of slices, but we don’t really play games like this competitively, so we were just building up our own pizza creations with the cards we were winning by getting the answers correct. I did enjoy the little pictures as well, and the fact that the pizza is colored in is very cute too!

It’s great that the game works for different ages, even if it felt a bit easy for Amelia. The idea of just building your own pizza creations instead of playing competitively sounds like such a fun and relaxed way to enjoy it!
