Everyone has been quarantined for quite some time now, which has been difficult and annoying. The lack of human contact, all of the events for the year being cancelled or postponed, many people have started the journey that is working from home. Shops have less food and items to purchase and more restrictions. I haven’t seen the inside of a Tescos for nearly three weeks. And all through this, I am very grateful for Pancake.
Pancake, if you didn’t know, is our british short haired cat who is so soppy and lovable. He is an indoor cat, afraid of the outdoors, who isn’t very much affected by all of this chaos. We are home a bit more, which he seems quite happy about, and our blog is having more to do with him, which means new treats and food. Pancake brings a lot of balance to my life – from the start he’s added so much joy. There have been downsides, like the fact that he has ruined a rug when he first got here, but these were to be expected. He’s a curious cat who loves to be cuddled, stroked, and played with.
Pancake starts our day by listening for us to make noises and wake up in our room. He isn’t allowed in our bedroom, as I am actually allergic to cats and keep the plants he is allergic to in there. He sits outside the door and as soon as we wake up, starts doing his two or three loud meows to let us know he is also up. Once we do get out of bed, he collapses at our feet outside the door, then follows us down to the next floor to collapse again and again until he gets scritches. What a little drama queen. He normally meows at Dann in the kitchen asking for more food or water, before settling back into his cat tree. During the day, Dann works downstairs, where Pancake tries to get on his desk and is moved to his cat tree. Whenever I come down, there are pets requested.
This cat is so cuddly. Evenings are when he tries hard to lay in our laps or on our chests and just bump heads or put his paws on our hands. He’s always been like this, a soppy cat who just wants to cuddle. We have these Pure Pet Food Taste of the Ocean treats we were gifted that Pancake adores. He sometimes goes to the cupboard and just meows at it, hoping for one. Most of the time he gets it. Pancake has never scratched anyone or harmed anyone. He’s just a lovely cat.
During this quarantine, I have really, really loved having him around. He’s a constant stream of careless affection who doesn’t seem to know what is going on and is just happy to be here and exist. I love Pancake and am so glad we have added him to our family, especially as being stuck inside and not seeing anyone, it’s great to have him around to cuddle and pamper. He gets into our projects, often trying to eat or play with anything, but he’s never annoying and understands when he’s told no. Having a pet has helped so much with my state of mind and mental health – it’s really worth getting one if you have the time, energy, and money to have someone lovely around.

I borrow my daughter’s dog every few days. She’s therapeutic to me. We play in the yard and go on long walks by the water. A pet certainly makes a difference in difficult times. Thanks for sharing,
That’s so lovely! I am glad you’ve got a pet to borrow. <3
We took in a stray cat just before Christmas and it created such joy and playfulness.
Ohh, that’s so lovely.
I love Pancake! He really is so sweet and soppy – the friendliest cat I’ve ever met. I love how he flops on the floor for pets too – so cute!
He’s a real cutie!
Pancake is such a sweet name! I love sitting out or walking with my dog; she quietly hears everything I have to say without me having to say a word.
That’s very lovely.
Aww, I love your little morning routine. My dog is obsessed with cuddles and I don’t know what I’d do if he didn’t like them. Having them around is definitely helpful, both for comfort and helping to keep a level of structurer and routine to the day. Pancake is adorable! x

It’s a really comforting thing, indeed.
Hi Jupiter, You’re cat seems so sweet! I have a tiny little dog called Lila to keep me company. She loves cuddles and likes to sit for hours and lick our hands. She’s very funny too.
She sounds so sweet!
Having a pet during quarantine has made a HUGE difference for us. The dogs and cats here have really helped me to find the laughter and happiness in every day rather than focusing on the stress and uncertainty. They always seem to know when I need that extra snuggle.
It’s so true, I don’t know what I would do without Pancake.
