Gardening with Pot Gang

[Ad- gifted product] The weather has been brighter out, the world feels defrosted for the most part, so it’s time to start thinking about your garden. Back in January, we got sent a box from Pot Gang with some fruit, vegetable and herbs to grow. To be honest, time in January got away from us, and we ended up growing our plants at the very end, with Amelia very much wanting to be in charge of them. Pot Gang has a monthly subscription of easy to grow plants, that feel very fulfilling when you grow them.

Inside the box, we got three different sets of seeds, a bunch of dirt that you add water too, some pots and water catchers for the bottom, three packets of instructions, some recipes and other little news in a booklet, and little labels for the plants. Basically, everything you need in one place. The first thing we did was start reading and re-hydrating the dirt. This compact dirt is actually an absolute ton of dirt and never seemed to run out. There was far more dirt then we needed for the first planting and for several re-pottings, so you really won’t need to be purchasing anything additional with Pot Gang.

We started with our strawberries, which were planted in the tiny sprout containers. These Amelia spread out on the soil, added a bit of soil on top, and then added water. We put plastic wrap on the top of these and kept them against a heater or on a hot water bottle, so that they were nice and warm. Though the strawberries took a while to sprout, we were so excited when they did and have transferred them to a larger pot, waiting for them to grow. We grew the chives in a very similar manor, with plastic wrap on top, but we didn’t need to put them against any sort of heat. These shot up quickly! They are nearly at the point where they can transition outside, though some mornings are still a little too icy.

When it came to the potatoes, you need to stick them in a windowsill until these big sprouts appear, which we can see, but they aren’t fully grown according to the pictures in the Pot Gang instructions. I really do love the fact that they include these pictures with each step, as it makes it really easy to follow the instructions and Amelia found it easy to take over. Once those are ready for planting, we will be planting them in the cloth planter provided.

Another thing we really loved about Pot Gang is how fun the planting is. The different plants have silly names and character pictures drawn by other children. The stickers that come with them, to stick on the pots or on the little flags to go by them, are so charming. We have found these plants to be fun to grow and will be ordering more to continue our garden well into the springtime. They have both one-off boxes, like the pickling box that caught my eye, as well as their monthly planting subscription.

My father loves planting so much, he has a small garden in our backyard. I will share this with him for sure.
