I was very excited for the February theme for Pretty Suds monthly bath bomb subscription box, which was Grimm Brothers Fairy Tales! I actually studied fairy tales at a collage level, which was a bit interested of mine when I was younger. These bath bombs sounded new, and there are so many fairy tales to pick from, that I couldn’t wait for my box to come in. If you haven’t seen my reviews of these boxes before, each month we get a new box with a different theme, which are only created for theses boxes, which we then use throughout the month to have some luxurious baths with! Let’s get into this month’s bombs.
Puss In Boots & Frog Prince
Puss in Boots is a jasmine, ylang ylang and clary sage bath bomb which has some interesting colors for a bomb! This bomb has an adorable little cat face and is quite charming. The smell of Puss in Boots lured me in, I really like ylang ylang at the moment, as it smells so fresh and clean. This bomb ended up turning our bath a muddy brown, which isn’t the nicest color for a bath, but with such a cute face I could forgive it. We will probably touch on this at the end, but the packaging itself wasn’t the best for Puss in Boots as the bomb arrived snapped in half, sadly. Frog Price is another adorable bomb with a cute face – featuring a gold dusted crown and hearts lips, this bomb smells of apple, bergamot and patchouli – subtly fruity.
Poison Apple & Wolf Grandma
The poison apple looks quite wicked and is very large – smelling of fruit as you would expect, with notes of apple, grapefruit and cucumber, it’s very sweet and refreshing. The purple is the dominating color int his bomb, turning our baths a lovely shade of purple. The wolf grandma was a more challenging bomb for me to get before reading the card, as it’s a bright pink bomb with curly hair, smelling of jasmine, lime and mandarin. This bomb was also fruity in the scent!
Rapunzel’s Tower
Rapuzel’s Tower was clearly the cream of the crop, with a giant, gold dusted bath bomb that smells so sweet – like candyfloss and caramel to bring back the memories of being a child and hearing this story. I really liked this bomb, despite it being white on the inside and a bit beat up in my package, as the glitter was sparkling and fun!
The box also came with a bonus watermelon wobbly jelly soap, which can be used as a bubble wand in a bath or as hand soap. I really loved the scents in this month’s box but had a lot of issues with the packaging. Over the last year, Pretty Suds has changed packaging from time to time, but most recently has stuck with plastic baggies tied with twine. This month, the plastic was melted over the outside, by the looks of things, with many of the bombs being too tightly wrapped for the small details that they have on them. Several of my bombs had holes in the wrapping, where the plastic clearly was stretched too far and melted – and all of them were a real challenge to get out of the packing. I hope to change back next month! The theme for March this year is ‘In Rose Wonderland’ and I am excited to see what that will bring!
Ooh these look so good! I’m not a big bath person but these are the most fun bath bombs I’ve ever seen!
They are really fun!
The Ylang Ylang scent sounds gorgeous. It reminds me of my roots in the tropics.
It is a lovely scent!
