Making Yogurt with the Probio7 Life Yogurt Machine

Probio7 Life Yogurt Machine

[Ad- gifted product] We love making things from scratch in our household. It’s such a fun way to experiment and see what you are eating, as well as customise the food you are trying so that they are perfect for your taste. Making Yogurt with the Probio 7 Life machine also has the added benefit of ensuring your yogurt is full of gut friendly bacteria, which can really help our digestive system! We took a look at the machine to see how simple it would be to use, and if the yogurt was really tasty of course!

The machine itself came with everything you’d need. There are two different types of jars, an add on to make greek yogurt or cheese, a recipe book, a large bottle to mix the milk in, a carton of UHT milk, a sachet of bacteria, a recipe book, and the machine itself along with the user guide book. The yogurt pots come in two sizes, a larger size with a lid that allows you to put the date into them, so that you can know when the yogurt goes off and smaller, single serving pots that could be easily taken into work for lunch. These pots are al ceramic, and have a good weight to them. You can fit all of the small jars into the machine at once, holding a whole carton of milk, or the two large ones. Alternatively, you can use one large one and half the of the small ones, if you’d like to divide your yogurt out evenly.

The machine itself was very, very easy to use. As Probio7 Life recommends UHT milk, using this milk is really the best. UHT means that the milk itself was heat treated, which will eliminate some bacteria in your milk and ensure your milk does not need to be refrigerated when shipped. This milk is the ideal for the yogurt machine, but you can use other milks easily as per the user guide. If you don’t have UHT milk at your local shop, you can actually purchase a subscription for the milk and bacteria, to be mailed to you, and for you to use with your machine!

Following the directions for the Probio7 Life Yogurt Machine was simple. I sterilised the various jars I was going to use, mixed the whole carton of milk and the bacteria sachet in the big bottle, then poured it into the pots. Next, I added the lids on, put the defined amount of water into the machine, and placed in the jars. After the lid is clipped onto the machine, I could easily select the yogurt settings through the buttons and then let it go. It took roughly 8 hours for the machine to make yogurt. I was out at the time, but all of the steam was let out from the top, and when I came home it was easy to take off the top and take out the yogurt!

The yogurt itself was a creamier texture than yogurt I have purchased from the store. It is almost like a thick custard, which I must say I like far more than traditional, shop bot yogurt. As there is nothing added to this, it doesn’t taste of much at all, which is interesting. The first amount that I had, I added a few spoonful of my favorite blueberry jam and fresh blueberries to the top. It came out super delicious, as the blueberry taste easily flavored the yogurt and made for a great breakfast! Dann had an entire jar with his favorite, fancy, damson jam mixed in – which he was very excited about as there is no damson yogurt on the market and he loves incorporating this jam into various meals.

We then followed one of the recipes for a smoothie bowl, which has tropical fruit in it, yogurt of course, and various fruit toppings. Amelia actually helped me eat this, as she really loves tropic fruit. This simple recipe worked well with the yogurt and made it very tasty! Interestingly, there are a few different savory recipes within the recipe book, which include a creamy pasta, a beetroot dip and a salad. As the yogurt itself is so neutral in taste (it doesn’t even taste of vanilla) it’s easy to see how it can be used as a cream sauce or salad dressing.

The Probio7 Life Yogurt Machine does make more than just yogurt. I previously mentioned cheese, but this machine can also make nato, rice wine and kimchi. Dann has been experimenting when it comes to make kimchi, but the amount of time that it takes to ferment kimchi has been a big part of the waiting process. The Probio7 machine can ferment kimchi in one day, so Dann is very excited to try out the machine – and we will probably let you know how it goes! I am sure the Probio7 Life Yogurt Machine will find a lot of use in our household.
