Discovering new snacks with the Sakuraco Snack Box

[Ad- gifted product] If you are a fan of snacks, there are a ton of different snack boxes that you can explore! The Sakuraco Snack Box is one that focuses less on colorful, candy filled snacks and instead focuses on more traditional Japanese snacks. This snack box also comes with some tea and a beautiful bowl or plate. It’s very adult feeling and could make a fantastic gift for those who really enjoy traditional snacks or snacks that go well with tea!

Savory Treats in the Sakuraco Snack Box

Inside our box this month, we got a variety of different savory and sweet snacks! We got two bags of fried corn snack, which were unflavored and tasted like crunchy corn. These were small packets that could easily go in a lunch or in a bag for on the go eating. We also got chocolate Kaki no Tane, which were sort of like trail mix; roasted peanuts, chocolate coated kaki no tane, some senbei (yes I also have no idea what two of those things are either, but they tasted good!) Following the savory notes, we got some salted edamame arare, which is a sort of edamame cracker that’s crunchy. Another crunchy snack was the roasted soybean senbei, which tasted like soy sauce!

Sweet Treats in the Sakuraco Snack Box

When it comes to Japanese snacks, sweet is never really as sweet as American treats are. With that in mind, this box had plenty of cookies and pastries that fit in the sweet category! We got a couple of butter cookies that contained Hokkadio butter. Hokkadio was actually a bit of a theme in this box, as several other items had dairy from that region! The Mt. Fuji Senbei looked so adorable; like a snow-capped mountain! This cookie also contained soy sauce, but had a sugar coating which felt good. The Butter Senbei tasted like a thin shortbread cookie, which was surprising. Another surprising cookie was the Hokkaido Melon Cookie, which had a fruity taste to it! The Hokkaido Strawberry Chocolate Cookie was thin and filled, creating a sweet flavor with lots of strawberries. Following the fruit cookie theme, the White Chocolate Raspberry Puff waws a very interesting and crumbly textured cookie with lots of dried strawberry on top!

I really enjoyed the honey apple mochi, which actually had a thin, wrapper around it that was editable and melted in my mouth, making it easy to eat the goo-y mochi. My least favorite item in the box was the Hokkaido Milk Manju, which had a bread-y outside and was filled with white bean past, which was soft and milky. I can see how this would go really well with tea or coffee. The Hokkaido Milk Danish was a large pastry, that was soft and slightly sweet, also good to go with a warm drink!

Other Treats

Inside the Sakuraco Snack Box, there was also some tea – Hokkaido Genmaicha. I am not the biggest fan of tea, but this green tea was good. There was recommended cooking instructions within the booklet that came with the box. Speaking of the booklet, not only does this tell you about each of your treats, but there are also sections that can teach you about different aspects of Japanese culture and experiences. The reason I picked this box was due to the little dish, as I was super excited to get a little dish in a box. The Shonzui Flower Dish has a flower on it that’s used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies. It’s also dishwasher and microwavable, which is always convenient.

I really love how adult this snack box feels – ideal for someone with a more refined pallet that wants to try something more traditional. The Sakuraco Snack Box is a fantastic subscription, and you can even earn a Streak that gives you more rewards if you keep ordering each month.

I had a chance to review one of the Sakuraco snack boxes and they had some unique treats. My favorite were the chips and candy, some snacks I enjoyed, and some weren’t for me, but it still was a pretty cool box

I love this idea for a snack box, something a little more grown up as you say! I would definitely enjoy the snacks in this.
