Celebratory Dinner at Sevine Brasserie

Sevine Brasserie, a stylish new Mediterranean food stop, opened up last year in the Water Gardens in Harlow! It’s a place that Dann and I have walked past dozens of times, looking like a great, upscale lunch, brunch and dinner venue. Often, there are people enjoy coffees outside around lunchtime and drinks in the evening. They have really ramped up this year, providing a lot of outdoor music and entertainment for the local community. Dann and I both kept saying we would eat there soon, so when I finished and submitted my book to my publisher at the start of this month, it felt like it was time to eat somewhere new, and Sevine Brasserie came to mind!

Pina Colada & Long Island Iced Tea

For my drink, I went with a Pina Colada, which is honestly my go-to when celebrating anything. This Pina Colada was very creamy and fruity, which I really enjoyed. I ended up getting a second one! It’s a classic, and one of my absolute favorites, so it was great to have a nice one. Dann got a Long Island Iced Tea, which also feels like a default drink. Dann said it was very good, smooth. There isn’t much else I have to say about these drinks, they were good cocktails.

Baba Ganoush & Bao Buns

Dann and I are both pretty predictable. Whenever there is Baba Ganoush is on the menu, Dann tries it. He said this one was very creamy and flavorful, with the bread being toasted well and with lots of grains in it. I thought it tasted fine, but the olives on top were really top tier olives! I am not the biggest fan of eggplant, so it’s never been my sort of starter. I did, however, decide to go for the bao buns at the Mediterranean venue. Sevine Brasserie does not have any other Asian inspired food on their menu, so I wondered why this was there. It either had to be very good or very out of place. I ordered the bao, which came with tons of beef, but it wasn’t the best. The buns themselves were dry and hard, getting harder the more I ate. The meat tasted like beef, with no real other flavors at all. There were three bao buns in the starter, which is really enough for a whole meal! I do really wonder why this is on the menu, but did have to tr y it.

Chicken a la Creme

Often, Dann and I will pick the same mains. We just have the same taste in food, really, which has always been so fun to me. As none of the fish dishes were jumping out to Dann, he and I both ordered Chicken a le Creme. There is the option to have this with rice or mash potatoes, but we both picked mash. I make a similar dish, but this was absolutely fantastic. The portion was huge, the flavor was very mushroom, cream and parmesan heavy. There was perfectly cooked chicken and asparagus. It was so fantastic, I would come back just for this! I really enjoyed the flavors in this dish. Dann and I are both starter people and not dessert people, so after our main we were quite full!

Sevine Brasserie had attentive staff, that very much looked after out table. The atmosphere is very good too – well decorated, clean, and we even had fresh flowers on our table. At the end of the night, with our bill, our server dropped off two complementary shots as well! It feels like a fantastic spot for a fancy meal out.
