Trying Different Foods at Shelter Hall

Food halls are a really fun way to try a bunch of different food or to eat a bunch of food with different people. When we are in Brighton for our yearly work trip, there is often an event at Shelter Hall, which has everyone meeting up, taking over the hall, and ordering some tasty food. Shelter Hall is a food hall full of different eateries, with tables in the middle. It’s a bit of a share the area experience as the tables are long and everyone sits together. Food is brought over to your table from the different venues, so you need to keep an ear out, but there is so much variety! Everything is ordered through an app and paid through the app, so you don’t need to get up or look at different menus.

Steak from Stakehaus at Shelter Hall

I got myself a steak to start off with, which was perfectly cooked! The steak was simple; salty, had a nice sear on the outside, and was honestly fantastic. I didn’t get any sauces, though did after wish I grabbed a chimichurri as I saw someone else at my table with it, and it smelled so good. I did order a side of gravy fries, which wasn’t the best. The gravy was very… tangy in a bad way. I didn’t enjoy them and shared them around. Dann also ordered a steak a bit later in the evening, when the place was packed, and we found his to be way overcooked – but the cheesy parm fries were fantastic with it. Everyone was very busy as the place was packed, so do consider the time of day you go.

Tacos from Saltio at Shelter Hall

We were in the mood for some tacos, so grabbed some chorizo and some pork tacos to share. One of them were just tacos, where as the other was a taco board as I wanted to try their nacho cheese sauce. I really loved the flavor on the chorizo tacos – they were spicy and delicious. The pork tacos were also well seasoned, and the dips were fantastic! I wish I could just get the chips and cheese sauce as well, as I loved it.

Sushi Bowl from Temaki Bros at Shelter Hall

Dann also grabbed a sushi bowl from Temaki Bros at Shelter Hall, which had some raw fish in it, lots of different vegetables and seasonings. He found this to be a lighter meal, especially after things like steak and tacos. The bowl felt fresh and he enjoyed it! I am not the biggest fan of fish so didn’t have any fish dishes on this occasion.

We did really enjoy our time at Shelter Hall, as we always do! The food is always good, it’s fun ordering from so many different eateries, and there is so much variety! It’s a great place to eat if you are in the area and especially if you are going with a group of people who all like different foods.

That’s a shame that the second steak was overcooked. Tacos and steak would definitely be my top choice as well. I love a food market but there’s always so much to choose x
