If Dann and I are traveling, we are often trying the Asian food we find. When walking around Old Town in Dubrovnik, we stumbled upon Silk. It looks like they have a few different locations in different cities, and we were quite excited to have some delicious food. We both sat in their rooftop terrace, as the weather was so nice, but they did have a small indoor area for seating as well.
Cucumber Salad & Spring Rolls

We often order cucumber salad at almost every Asian place we go! This one at Silk actually had a bunch of green apple chunks in i t, which was a first! There was a bit of tomato and of course, a lot of cucumber. The dressing to the salad was on the sweet side, with notes of soy and sesame. There were some bits of red flaked about, but it wasn’t spicy. We both enjoyed this salad, though it was different than expected! We also got the spring rolls, which were very cabbage and carrot heavy, and came with a side of sweet chili. I found them to be a bit on the bland side, but Dann did like them. I did find it weird that these items came out last, like well after we were done with the rest of the food, which felt weirdly paced.
Chicken Karaage, Kimchi Soup & Pork Belly

Dann was in the mood to order lots of little dishes, so he went for the kimchi soup and the chicken karaage. The kimchi soup had a miso base and was very good, nice and spiced but not too spicy. The chicken karaage was a little different then the others we have previously had – it didn’t have a batter and instead was a sort of breaded chicken. For me, it was crispy but very much cooked to death. The sauce was like a sweet mayo – not quite Kewpie, but just sweet. It was just a bit strange. I got the pork belly, which was crispy and well cooked, along with some kimchi rice. The rice itself was very good and I really enjoyed the pork belly, but the sauce on top was the only amount of sauce you get at Silk, and I do wish there was enough sauce for the layer of pork under it.
Yamato & Raspberry Colins

Dann got a drink called Yamato, which was refreshing. It had ginger beer in it, along with lime – sort of like a twist on a Moscow mule. I got a gin-based drink that has a raspberry taste to it. Again, it was light and refreshing! They do have a fun mocktail menu at Silk, which has drinks named sort of after reasons you wouldn’t be drinking, like the “I’m the Driver” and the “It’s a girl” drinks. Very fun idea! The staff at Silk were lovely too and very accommodating.
The food looks amazing I do love asian foods as well and you can not go wrong with a cocktail or mocktail to go along with it
Wow.. looks so good, and most importantly, healthy. Can’t wait to try this myself.
All of that food looks so amazing! I’m getting hungry just looking at it!
