[Ad- gifted product] Snow Globe ornaments are one of the oldest ornaments in the book. I always enjoyed making little snow globes with my family, as there are so many different ways to make them. These globes require just a few basic crafting supplies and just serve as inspiration for making your own, as you can also bring your own twist to the craft.
Materials:
- Baby Food/Jam jars
- Clay
- Small decoration objects like snow men or trees
- Twine – I used Luxury Twine Selection Box – they have a lovely Christmas range
- Hot glue gun and glue
- Glitter
Making your snow globe ornaments is a pretty easy job. This is something that even children can do! For my more complex snow globe, I took the clay and started spreading it around the inside lid of my jar. It doesn’t matter if the lid screws back on, so I just made a good base to add some height to the items I was going to put in. After I had the base level of snow out of clay, I took one of the trees and made some little clay ornaments. Lastly, I made the gift out of clay. Putting everything together was the most challenging bit, as I wanted to cover the base of the tree with clay and make sure everything had enough height. Once I had the inside done, I added a bit of glitter and was ready to add my twine. Using my hot glue gun, I glued the lid to the jar and started putting a thin layer of hot glue around the lid, looping the beautiful twine around it. After a bunch of loops, the lid of the jar is completely covered. You just need to add a dot of glue to the top, make a circle with your string, and you’re done! I let mine dry for a bit before hanging it onto the trea.
For my more simple ornament, I opted with just using pre-made items and putting them inside my jar. Once they were placed in well, I used hot glue to glue them down. The lid, once again, was glued in using hot glue, and then wrapped up with twine so that you cannot see the jar lid anymore. I find that wrapping these lids in beautiful twine does really take the snow globe ornaments up to the next level! Once the circle on the top was added and everything had dried, it was time to hang them on the tree!
Snow globe ornaments are such a fun holiday craft, I really like seeing what everyone comes up with on the inside of their globe. These also make a really good little gift.
