Tim Hortons UK – Canada’s Favorite Coffee Place | Restaurant Review

Tim Hortons

Now, you may have heard that Canada’s favorite breakfast place has come to the UK, opening up a location in Harlow. Tim Hortons has coffee, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, lunch sandwiches, donuts, pancakes and more, on their current limited menu. At the moment, we have been to Tim Hortons way too many times – mainly because it’s nearby. A bit because its new and nearby, a bit because with lockdown, Dann and I haven’t been to anywhere new in ages, and a bit because we have been moving and it is nearby. We’ve actually sampled quite a bit of the menu.

Donuts

Well, one of the main reasons you’ll go to Tim Hortons is for donuts. There are tons of different donuts that you can get – whole donuts, filled donuts and more. At the moment, the set boxes are just that – set boxes. The price of a box of a dozen donuts at Tim Hortons is Β£18.99. You can’t actually pick what goes into the dozen or half dozen you get, which is the most disappointing thing about the donuts. On our first dozen, we ended up with basically four of the same donuts, which isn’t ideal. We had two maple glazed ring donuts and two maple glazed, round donuts (with no filling), which is strange. Some of the highlights from the box, however, were the Boston Cream donut – which is delicious, as all Boston Creams should be. These happen to be my favorite donut, so that’s a plus. The girls quite enjoyed the strawberry jam filled, and the cinnamon and apple twisty donut was one that everyone seemed to enjoy too. Hopefully in the future, you can pick what goes into the boxes so we can get more of what we all like.

Along with donuts, we have tried a few boxes of Timbits, which are just donut holes. We got a mix box of 20, which contained only glazed and glazed with sprinkles donuts, as well as a single chocolate donut – and again, felt there was the same issue with the mixed boxes – you don’t get to decide what you get, so you might end up with a box of just glazed. We went back and got a Timbit box of 10 chocolate truffle donuts (we asked for those specifically) and they were wonderful – chocolatey, glazed and perfection. Over all, I do think that Timbits are quite fun, so I am excited to get to pick more flavors!

Coffee

Coffee is another reason we keep going to Tim Hortons is the coffees. They have Ice Caps – specifically an oreo one, that’s everything I have ever wanted in a cold coffee. It’s sweet, it tastes like oreo, it’s got a good coffee kick. I love it. Sometimes, they are out of it, so the Birthday cake one is a great backup, which is caramel and vanilla instead of oreo. Dann quite enjoys the French vanilla latte, which again, has just a much better coffee than Starbucks and the like. We tend to stick to these two drinks, but have also dipped into the fruit coolers – which are really refreshing and will be delicious as the days get warmer.

Food Menus

As there are discounted breakfasts at the moment, we have tried a few things off the menu. I had a sausage and egg stack, which has a hashbrown on the sandwich, and it was okay. It’s not got much flavor, but will fill you up. I like the choice of sauces, going with chipotle mayo, which is very fun. Dann has had a few of the super breakfast wraps, which are apart of all day breakfast, and he enjoys them! They are egg, sausage, sauce and hash brown in a wrap – which does the job. I’ve also dipped into their lunch menu, going for a chicken burger with potato wedges, which again, was okay. The sandwich was very much one texture – very wet almost, and the wedges are not crispy at all, but I am told that is classic in Canada, so I guess its just me that doesn’t care for it!

Despite not enjoying the actual food you can get at Tim Hortons, I have been enjoying a cheeky coffee and Boston Cream donut, so I am sure we will find ourselves in the drive thru more and more, especially as we seem to magically drive by every time we need to go anywhere! If you end up going along to Tim Hortons, do try the coffee and donuts.

Hi Jupiter. Well, if they ever venture a bit further north in the UK perhaps I’ll pay them a visit. I’m a great coffee lover. When it comes to doughnuts I’m quite a traditionalist – if its a good old-fashioned jam doughnut I’m happy, if it’s all covered in glaze and sprinkles I’m not interested πŸ™‚

Oh, wrong time for me to look at this – so hungry lol! I’ve not actually heard of this place before (have I been under a rock) but I’m glad I know now. Looks so tasty x

I have to admit I’ve not heard of Tim Hortons before but now I really want to go! Those donuts look delicious and who doesn’t love a good drink to go with one.

You made me crave for donuts right now. I wish we had a Tim Hortons close by but unfortunately, we don’t. I would visit a branch once the restrictions ease up in our area.

We’ve been obsessed with Tim Hortons since one opened reasonably close to us. Thankfully we’ve been quite lucky with the Timbit boxes and always had a good assortment, we had some food there earlier this week and I really enjoyed the chicken stack burger x

Ooo those doughnuts look delicious, such a shame you can’t decide what you get though. I am quite fussy and so are the kids so I would worry we would end up wasting some if we didnt like what was inside. They do look yummy though and I think if a Tim Hortons opened up near us I would definitely go try it out! x

We started cutting ours up and adding some sprinkles to the ones that were less desirable. In the future, I am hoping they let us actually pick.
