[Ad- gifted product] Some story books have a big message, others teach simple basics like counting or eating, while Timothy Mean and the Time Machine is more of a story book that brings adventure and silliness into bedtime stories! Timothy Mean is a character who enjoys a bit of chaos, traveling through time to trick different individuals, living up to his last name. He’s the type of character you wouldn’t want your children to be friends with, but would talk about in terms of stories and chaos that he causes!
In Timothy Mean and the Time Machine, Timothy has created a time machine and spends an entire week traveling somewhere new each day! From pulling dinosaur’s tails to cutting off the beards of vikings, Timothy can cause a lot of damage. The various places both in the past, present, and future that the time machine can reach brings a unique twist on some pranks to pull. Each of these pages have quite a bit of text, giving a full story and a micro-adventure larger then some of the other bedtime books we’ve looked at previously, which is very welcome. There are lots of rhymes within this book, which brings a good flow to the story. We all found ourselves laughing out loud while reading Timothy Mean and the Time Machine.
The illustrations within the book were in a less childish style and looked very interesting, with lots of small details included in. This style doesn’t match most of our other books and brings a really unique look to the story itself. Timothy is just using his imagination, and it’s a very big imagination at that! He does not seem to get in trouble for his behavior, but at the end of the day, it’s just a silly story anyway.
