Tokyo Treat Crate – Fun box of Japanese Snacks!

Tokyo Treat Crate

[Ad- gifted product]ย We are a huge fan of snacks in our household and really do love trying new things to eat and enjoy. That’s why, these sort of snack subscription boxes, are really a good fit for us! As a family of 5, it is so much fun to snack on new flavors and foods, together, and explore what they may taste like. Tokyo Treat Crate is a monthly subscription box that has a different theme every month. These various boxes contain 16 different treats for you to test out and enjoy, all from Japan!

We ended up getting the Fruity Fall crate, which had lots of fall-inspired treats for us to sink our teeth into. The box, actually, was super loaded with treats. It took us quite some time of snacking to actually get through it, which feels like really good value for money. Even with the children wanting to try bits of everything and with packed lunches having some of the treats as their treats, it did take us a while before we snacked the box down.

Sweet Treat Favorites

I cannot express enough how there are tons of treats in the Tokyo Treat Crate. Far too many to dive into one by one, so we figured we’d highlight some of our favorites. The Constellation Chocolate Cookie was a single, individually wrapped chocolate covered cookie, with a crunchy buscuit on the bottom and some beautifully detailed chocolate on the top. It’s a quick snack, but a really lovely treat with some quality chocolate! Our household favorite sweat treat out of this box was the blueberry Pocky. The children have previously had chocolate and strawberry Pocky, but we do not have flavors like blueberry here – which is one of their favorites. They really enjoyed eating up these, especially as there were so many in the pack, which was really great. One of the most surprising sweet treats was the Umaibo Cinnamon Apple Pie, which had the texture of a giant soft Cheeto, but the flavor of Taco Bell’s cinnamon twists, with a hint of apple. It’s a really interesting experience!

Savory Snack Favorites

When it came to savory, a few of the stand outs include these tomato crisps, which were savory and a bit sweet. They did not taste like ketchup, and instead had more of a depth to them, which was really fun and adictive to eat. Onion Taro are little onion soup flavored puffs, which are really interesting. I have not had soup flavored snacks before, and these felt quite lovely to eat, disappearing quickly as we snacked on them. They were not too onion-first in their flavor at all. DonDon Yaki tasted a bit like pork rinds, but without that horrible, hard texture. These were “crunchy mini crackers, with a saucy flavor.” according to the pamphlet that comes with the box. We don’t know what that means, but it tasted pretty good!

This box still continued to have so much more than these highlights. There were some other yummy, limited edition candy including a white chocolate crunch bar. There was a huge pack of chestnut flavored mini-KitKats, as I know some people really love japanese Kit Kats, this seemed like a big highlight in the box. If you enjoy those little Japanese kits where you can make your own candy, there was a packet of make your own mini-ice cream too, which is such a fun little project! Each box comes with a fun drink, this month it was peach flavored. We aren’t the hugest Peach fans, but love the idea of a peach Fanta, and it was cool trying it.

There is a pamphlet inside the Tokyo Treat Crate that can help you understand what you are eating and trying within the box, but also comes with pages about winning extra prizes, something fun going on in Japan this month, other fun snack boxes, and more. It’s an interesting little read that does seem to want to offer more to the buyer! Our family had a really fun time with this box, and the variety of different treats (as well as the amount) is really worth it!
