Vivacats Birthday Box | Review

Vivacats

If you read my previous review of last month’s Vivacats box, you are probably weren’t expecting another. I felt these boxes weren’t worth the price tag, but as it turns out, I received my Vivacats box the day after the last day you cancel by, so they charged me and sent me another box. Now, unsubscribing to Vivacats has been a whole ordeal. You have to email them – but they never replied to me. Another week went by, no reply. I reached out on Facebook Messager and was told that they had over 900 emails, so they couldn’t get to mine right now. As it got close to charging time for the 3rd box, I messaged again and the conversation went in circles where they asked for my email, I provided it, they didn’t reply for hours, I asked if I was unsubscribed, they asked for my email, I then replied with it (again), they didn’t reply… Eventually, after another week, they finally confirmed I was, in fact, unsubscribed, so this will be my final box – I feel! Anyway, let’s get into the box.

This month’s theme is Birthday, which has a few mystery items within it. I have the UK box – as different countries have various different items inside their box. There was an item I didn’t receive as well as some opinions on ‘surprise’ snacks, but we will get into that.

Vivacats Spider Ball

Vivacats

This cat toy, much like the previous box’s cat toy, is the most interesting part of the box for me! It’s a big spider with long legs – looking completely adorable. The toy is filled with a bell and some catnip. As Pancake loves fighting off bugs (or at least, attempting too) he does enjoy this spider. It’s also much more enjoyable then actual spiders. He’s been chasing it around a bit and playing with the legs. The bell noise is nice too, as we don’t have very many toys that make noise!

Vivacat Kiwi Toy

So, what I should have also got in my box, according to the website and booklet, I should have gotten a Kong’s Wooden Refillable or Nuf Nuf’s rod with mouse, but either of those items were actually missing from my box. Instead, I got a Kiwi Toy and no actual information on what had happen. After asking, in my long Facebook chat about trying to cancel, they had said that they had an issue with a distributor and instead included their own toys in some boxes – but didn’t feel the need to email or inform anyone about it. The Kiwi toy itself was simple but nice, though it wasn’t a toy that could be filled with catnip or could be played with on a string, so it didn’t feel comparable to me, to the other items I should have gotten. Also I would have liked a little note about it within the box or even emailed.

Piper Wet Food Rabbit

When it came to the food for this month, I got a Piper wet food can, in the flavor of Rabbit – you could have got any flavor or Cat Select’s can of squid. This can of rabbit food was DENSE. Like, when I opened the can, the food puffed out of the can. It smelled so meaty as well, almost gamey, which was interesting. Pancake seemed to enjoy it, though he ate the food really slowly as it was almost like a giant hunk of ground meat and not really wet in any way. I, personally, couldn’t take the smell of it very much and if I got it again, I would dish out 1/4 of the can at a time because of Pancake’s slow eating.

Pet Up Chicken Snacks

Vivacats

The next item was a treat – semi-wet chicken snacks from Pet Up. These snacks are hard to describe, as I wouldn’t say they were wet, they almost feel like candy ginger – as if they were preserved in some way that leaves them more moist than beef jerky, but not by much. Pancake does love treats so he has enjoyed these, though they don’t have the huge scent like other treats (mainly fish based) which means sometimes he doesn’t seem as interested as he doesn’t know what they are. Maybe he’s just not a chicken fan!

Kit Cat Milk

This milk was actually my favorite product from the Vivacats box when it came to foods. It’s a small container of lactose free milk designed for cats, by Kit Cat. Pancake really enjoyed the milk and wouldn’t stay away from it until it was completely finished – which is always good to see. Once the milk is open, you can store it in the fridge and slowly give it out to your pet, which is what we are probably going to do in the future as this was such a hit!

Surprise Snack

Vivacats

To be honest, I was pretty disappointed in my surprise food or snack. I got a food – specifically one of Blink’s sample bags. As this is a box that I pay for, I was hoping the surprise would be something different – if you didn’t know, you can get 8 of Blink’s sample bags of cat food for 1£ plus shipping, so I felt like one sample bag was quite a let-down as far as a surprise goes. Pancake enjoyed the wet food enough though! Just felt like something else could have came that brought a bit more value to what I am paying for.

I didn’t get any coupons in this box and the Viviacats box did come with Vivadogs paper inside, again, which seems a bit weird to me even now. I am not sure why they show images of a cat paper and not include it in the cat boxes! The next theme is Summer Box, which honestly looks to have some cool things like Ice Cream for cats in it. If you’re interested, you can check out their website, but at this time I feel the boxes just aren’t worth the price tag.

I would definitely be disappointed by the food if I were able to get it that cheaply outside of the box. I mean, if they just threw it in as a fun extra, sure, but to include it as the surprise food item that you were waiting on as part of the box? I feel like they could have done better.

I’m always up for trying new subscription boxes but this one definitely doesn’t sound right for the money. It’s so annoying when you’re trying to get in contact with a company and you get nowhere with them.

That’s so true! They actually charged me for another month after this, as despite me asking to unsubscribe on MAY 1st, they didn’t process it until after May 26th, which is the cutoff date for another payment?? It was so much arguing to get them to refund me.
