Want Your Employees To Stick With You? You’ve Got To Make Sure You Make This Happen

Do you want your employees to stick with you? Of course you do. Employee retention is something that a lot of business owners forget to think about, and as such they end up with a revolving door of sorts.

If you want your employees to stick with you, then you have got to put the effort in to make this happen. You can’t just treat them however you want, not caring about them and expect them to stick around, providing for you and your customers. Pay Them Fairly

Of course, this one is a big one. You need to pay your employees fairly if you want them to stick with you. When they agreed to the job, they agreed to the money that you were offering them. However, if the market starts to change and those in this profession are generally being paid more, you need to raise salaries in line with this if you want to keep them.

Or, if you start to increase their workload, you need to pay them more for this too. It’s not fair to expect them to give you their all, when you’re not willing to pay them fairly.

Ensure They Take Breaks 

It’s also important that your employees are taking breaks regularly so that they are not burning themselves out. You need to have a policy in your business that demands each of your employees has the break time that they are entitled to at some point through the work day. While this might sound a little weird, it’s important for their productivity which means that you’ve got to enforce this. No working through breaks, no missing lunch, none of this. 

Offer Counseling 

Despite what some employers may think, employees are not robots. They have thoughts, feelings, and you need to account for that. It’s a good idea to offer EAP counselling to all of your employees if they need it. Not all of them will take you up on it, but those who do need it will be thankful that they have a safe space to talk about the things that are getting to them. 

Give Them Advancement Options

Finally, if your employees think they are stuck in a dead end job then they are far more likely to leave and seek employment elsewhere. It is down to you to keep them around and interested in working for you. You can do this by offering them training packages and options to advance up the career ladder. You can sort training as a bulk so you can train more than one employee at a time.
