Over the summer break, we have been looking to go to all sorts of fun activities. After going onto a small inflatable assault course in our local swimming pool, we really wanted to try a bigger one, that even Robin could go on (as she didn’t make the height requirement for the swimming pool course). Due to Robin’s age and very short height, she’s not actually tall enough for most of these courses, however Aqua Splash in Sawbridgeworth had different rules, as long as an adult went around with her.
From the moment they saw the course, all three of our children were pumped. Normally, Kai is in a teenager mood where he doesn’t care about much, but he was hyped seeing this course. Waiting for the current people to get off was challenging, as everyone was buzzing to get on! You do start off by putting on a life jacket – which is simple enough. Several of the life jackets for Robin’s size had really busted zippers, and didn’t seem to be replaced often, so it took us a bit too long to find a suitable life jacket. From there we had a safety instruction, and then went right into the water!
The Aqua Splash course has so much to do on it. There are monkey bars to climb across, a giant swing to fly into the water, large slides, areas to run across. It’s just a giant wipe out zone, for you to take on and explore. We all went on together, but slipped around and picked different paths. Whenever any of us fell off, we could easily swim to one of the pull on points and then attempt to climb back on. This was much more challenging than I expected! Myself and Amelia both struggled getting on and off, but the staff on the float would pull you up if you struggled a bit, and they could even pull me up with little effort so I didn’t spend long in the water!
The Aqua Splash course has a time limit of around 45 minutes, but at the end of that time, we were all exhausted. It really felt like a good amount of time to try it all. Dann was really into the course and wants to go back on his own, so that he can try speed running the entire thing. It’s something that all three of our children have asked to go back on too, and because of the life jackets, nobody was afraid of falling off and going into the pond. The Aqua Splash course is a really fun day out that also feels like a bit of exercise.
You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
45 minutes does seem like a long time, but if it’s strenuous it wears you out. That course looks like fun.
I’ve seen things like this quite a lot but have always been skeptical about whether I’d be any good. I think I’d spend more time in the water than anything else. But sounds like you guys had such a fun day, even if you were understandably exhausted x
The staff there did help us get out of the water often, which was great.
