When we were staying with Abbey Holidays at The Highland Club in Loch Ness, we really wanted to see the Highland Cows. By “we”, I do primarily mean me, I think. Growing up, I had a cow. I lived in the countryside. I really do like cows! And these long-haired cows with their horns were very new to me, so I really wanted to see one and pet one in real life. I was pretty confused that we didn’t see any driving up to Loch Ness, so when we set out to the Redburn Cafe & Gift Shop, as they have cows on their property, I was very excited.
This is the third month of Project 365, which is a challenge to post an image and little diary entry each day of the year. I’ve been posting mine monthly, looking back on everything I’ve done each month. I think it’s a really neat idea and a fun way to get to know the blogger that you are reading, to hear about their day to day life. Some bloggers post them weekly, some daily, and some – like me – post them monthly. You can check out a handful of other bloggers participating in the project at the bottom of this post.
[Ad- gifted products] When it comes to snacking and having lunches, Dann and I both really enjoy a snacky board. Often, we will just pull a bunch of random meats, cheeses, and fruits out of our fridge and eat them out of the various containers, instead of making proper plates of food. Sometimes, however, Dann and I like to make things a little fancy. So Wood round cheese board is the perfect way to level up your lunch and make it feel like a real date.
The So Wood cheese board is more than just a cheese board, really. Built into the board, there are two panels, one of which holds two larger ramekins, while the other holds four cheese knives, a cork screw and a bunch of little forks. The top of the board has a removable cheese plate and four ramekins that are removable, making them very easy to clean. It’s a very smart set up, and under the removable cheese plate, you can actually get an engraving! I found all of these areas very easy to clean and we both loved the little ramekins for holding pesto mozzarella, olives and nuts.
This board feels quite compact and can really hold a lot of food! We set our So Wood cheese board up so that you could see the engraving, as we had picked our last name, and it just came out so adorably. We find the best cheese boards have a few cheeses and then lots to snack on. The little forks that came with the board itself did feel like they could be bent easily, but there were quite a few included, which is nice. Dann commented that this would be great for our bi-weekly tabletop nights, where we host a bunch of friends, as the board itself is so much fun. If you are looking for a compact cheese board that can hold a lot, then this one might be great for you.
[Ad- gifted products] We play a lot of board games and often find mechanics we have previously seen, done in new ways. This week, when we went to Geek Retreat to play Garden Heist, we didn’t realize how different and unique this game would be! The setup itself already feels very different – using the bottom of the box, you basically set up a little house with a little window. Then, outside the house, there is a bunch of trees and garden items placed in a specific order. Meeples start off at the other end of the board, opposite of the house, so that you can see the garden from the house window.
[Ad- gifted experience] Back in 2020, I visited the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, but as with any museum, a lot of the exhibitions have changed. The Guggenheim Museum is a beautiful building, both inside and out. The outside looks like scales of metal, with different statues and structures around the outside. At the front, there is a giant dog covered in flowers, at the back a large spider creature and a bunch of silver balls all stacked up on top of each other. Just going around the outside is beautiful. At the time that I went to the museum, there were a lot of fantastic exhibitions to take a look at as well.
