A Day Out at BCK YRD GOLF

BCK YRD GOLF

When the weather is nice, we go out and explore mini-golf places! We’ve been to several in the area; from dinosaurs to pirates, we’ve been to everything nearby. When the half term came up, the kids wanted to go to a new mini-golf place, despite the cold weather. As we didn’t want to get stuck in the rain, we looked for local places that were indoor, and came across BCK YRD GOLF, which wasn’t too far away! BCK YRD GOLF aims itself at teenagers / young adults, but does have a family pass for children, so we figured, why not!

We booked for our group of five and arrived to try out both courses. Neither of these courses had consistent themes throughout, but that was fine by us! To get into the mini-golf course, you do appear at a bar, which doesn’t look much like a mini-golf place. At first, we were honestly confused. But, after being given our golf clubs and balls, we were lead through a small gate and the course was ours! We first went to the left hand course, which started off in neon lit rooms that looked like a skating tunnel. Robin’s golf club glowed, the kids all wanted a go standing on the skateboards, and we were off to a good start!

When it came to the good about the courses at BCK YRD GOLF, they were really unique! So many of the rooms used bright, neon color, and the place had some interesting concepts. One hole, on the right hand side, didn’t have anyone put off, and instead had a drop in place – one for kids and one for adults – where the ball gets placed in, and then it pinko’s to the bottom. Other areas had long ramps to shoot up, tires to roll over, and otherwise fun areas! The lighting throughout was really fun, and there had been some serious new tracks that we’ve never seen anywhere. Another actually had kids putting up a wall, to then curve it, and go down another wall.

The big negatives of BCK YRD GOLF is just the size of the venue. They’ve clearly tried to cram as many holes in as they can – with ten in each track – and with that, there isn’t much room to stand, apart from on top of the course. As we were a group of five, we either were still in the area of the previous hole or in the area of the next hole, which caused some issues when a group ended up being us. Another big issue just seems to be the lack of care at the place. I messaged social media to ask about a deal, didn’t get a reply, so I called through. Calling through, I got one answer to my question, which was completely different from the answer I later got on social media (and if I got the social media answer first, it would have saved some money on entry price!) Though the holes are unique, quite a few of them have broken or missing decorations – a giant duck is missing from one of the duck themed holes, and there were decoration items placed in front of the flow of one of the tire-themed holes, which made it impossible to hit. In the bubbles room, there is a massive bath tub full of balls, all of which are really dirty – and a button that you push to make bubbles, but despite being there only a few hours after opening for the day (and the only ones in that golf course at the time), there were no bubbles.

The course itself does feel grungy, which isn’t a problem at all. I quite liked the edgy look to it, the neon lights, and the broken mirrors dotted around – and the kids had never seen anything like it. I can see why BCK YRD GOLF primarily attracts teens and young adults, as it really feels like a fun place to golf, drink, and otherwise have a good time. Inside the bar area, where you are found at the end of the course, there are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place stands, which the kids really liked too! Overall, we had a good time, but would love to see a bit more love put into the place.

My family loves mini golf places too! This looks like a great spot for mini golfing, I like the mix of glow courses and non-glow spots.

I love these kind of modern indoor mini golf places, but I agree a lot of the ones I’ve been to do try to cram so much in that you can’t enjoy everything as you’re so cramped x

Looks like you guys had a great time there. It’s been long even we didn’t go out for playing mini golf.
