Updated November 12th, 2023 – new gifts added. *AD – the gifts in this gift guide was gifted to our household for this post. All opinions, as always, are our own.
When it comes to Christmas gifts, there are so many different and new toys out there. To make things a little easier, I have created another gift guide this year! This gift guide is full of toys and games that our household has enjoyed throughout the year. With a bigger focus on physical toys, instead of video games, it has been a good year for toys in our house.
Afterglow Wave Wireless Controller
If you’ve got a Nintendo Switch or Xbox that is used often by your child, grabbing a new controller is always a useful and fun gift! The Afterglow Wave Wireless Controllers are not only really functional, but also light up! These controllers look stunning – and they come in a variety of different colors. In our household, we are always replacing controllers, so Christmas feels like the perfect time to fresh our collection and pick up some beautiful, new ones for our children to enjoy.
Connetix Magnetic Tiles
Building toys are always a popular option when it comes to a holiday gift – Connetix Magnetic Tiles come in a bunch of different colors and in a box with enough tiles to be able to build a castle! There are so many different shapes and types of tile, that all magnetically stick together so that your child can easily build and play. This is a great choice for a large number of ages as well, as younger children can build with them and older children are still interested in building up play places for their dolls and other toys.
Sheep Dip Board Game
Often, having a good family friendly board game can make a great gift that is played for months, bringing together the whole family! Sheep Dip is a very easy game to pick up and play, where you are looking to match up different, cute sheep so that you can then bank them. It’s a good game for all ages, and you can even learn a bit about different types of sheep! You can read our full review, if you’d like.
Roller Skates
If you’ve got a child that is full of energy, picking up a new sport for them can be such a good idea. We have gone out ice skating a ton as a family in the wintertime, and find that ours love skating, so getting a pair of stylish skates. There are tons of options from roller blades, to skates, to scooters – all to help your child get active and have a fun, outdoor gift. Not only can these help build skills, but sports do help build confidence too.
The Grinch: Christmas Adventures
If you have a child that is a fan of video games, the perfect Christmas video game has come out! The Grinch: Christmas Adventures takes the classic store of the Grinch that Stole Christmas and creates an interactive video game around it! It’s such a fun adventure, all about ruining Christmas, that makes for a perfect gift – especially given to a Grinch lover.
Be Held Books
When it comes to getting children to read, one of the most special things is when they get to be inside the book itself! Be Held has a number of different advent stories, that have real-life lessons that can be learned from reading them! We picked out the Detective book for Robin, who has been called Detective Robin as she is always trying to solve things around the house. You can customise the look of the main character in the book as well, changing the hair colour and adding accessories, which is a great way to make your child feel like it’s really them!
Plushies
I feel like our household will never have enough plushies! Squishmallows are a very popular option – there are hundreds to collect, in various sizes, and all of them are super soft and fun to lay on! Each of these plushies come with a name and little description about them, making them really fun to collect and play with as well. Our household is also big into Pokemon, so Pokemon themed plushies also have found their way into our Christmas list, as these are super fun to adventure with when pretending to play Pokemon in real life, something that we find our little ones doing often.
Pokemon Figures
If your child is also into Pokemon, grabbing a few different Pokemon Clip n Go balls as well as action figures can really bring Pokemon to life, especially if you can find their favorite Pokemon. The Clip and Go Pokeball allows your child to bring a tiny Pokemon with them, on whatever adventures they may want to go on at the park or in their own home. It’s a fun way to become a trainer! Having a larger figure also adds to their imagination and the stories they might come up with while playing.
Spiderman Something Wild
We are always looking for new games to play as a family! The Spiderman Something Wild allows two to four players to play Wild Card the game, but with a Spiderman twist, as the cards have various Spiderman characters on them and the card game comes with a little figure as well! This card game can make a really good stocking filler and can be played right on Christmas, keeping the kids entertained while dinner is being cooked. It’s a lovely idea for a gift.
FabLab Nail Art Deluxe Kit
Previously reviewed, the FabLab Nail Art Deluxe Kit is a great make-up kit for younger girls. Featuring paint and peel nail polish and the ability to make an ombre look with included sponges, this kit just makes sense for those interested in doing their nails. The box also works as a storage container with a slot for your phone to go into, so you can watch tutorials while doing your nails.
You can find this on Amazon.
Djeco Space Kaleidoscope Immersion
For those interested in a bit of outer space, the Djeco Space Kaleidoscope Immersion Kit allows children to create a kaleidoscope-like tube full of space-themed images, that can then be twisted and played with. The stars are glow in the dark, there are tons of little details and the kaleidoscope can be put together and taken a part several times, making for a pretty fun gift!
You can purchase the Djeco Space Kaleidoscope Immersion kit from Bright Minds.
Peppa Pig Grow and Play Pot
The Peppa Pig Grow and Play Pot has been growing on our windowsill for ages! There are several versions of this pot, each with different seeds and characters from the TV show Peppa Pig. I previously reviewed the entire pot on it’s own, but really have enjoyed watching Robin water her plant and eat up the micro-greens that have emerged from it.
You can purchase a Peppa Pig Grow and Play Pot on Amazon.
Glowpad
Inspiring those who enjoy drawing, the Glowpad is a tablet-like drawing platform that allows kids to make pictures that will then glow. Using the two included pens, you can draw a neon picture. Once your picture is done, you are able to flip the switch and bring the image to life as the screen lights up.
You can purchase the Glowpad from Bright Minds.
Fuzkins Ice Cream Van Bag
Fuzkins is a brilliant idea for children who love playing pretend. These kits come with slightly fuzzy creatures, that your child can colour in, then wash off to re-colour later. The Ice Cream Van Bag is a gift Robin actually picked out, wanting to colour the characters and pretend to serve ice cream. The ice cream van doubles as a bag, with a strap, and the animal in this set is a cow (how fitting). The children had fun colouring in the animal, designing the signs, and making their ice cream van perfect. Once done, all of these things can be easily washed, dried, and coloured in again!
You can find the Fuzkins Ice Cream Van Bag on Amazon.
