Best Meze Grill – Really lovely food and atmosphere

We have spent a lot of this year going to Legoland, and there is one thing that Legoland sucks at; food. There really isn’t any good food to eat there, so we started looking for places nearby that would be able to fill our bellies with dinner. Best Meze Grill is a Turkish restaurant that really lives up to it’s name. The building is small, but cozy, with the owner always on the floor, ready to recommend you food and be one of the most accommodating owners I have ever met. We’ve essentially become regulars at this establishment as it is just so good.

Table Food

Each time we go to Best Meze Grill, they place a few starters at our table. Normally, this looks like a trio of things on one plate; olives, a spicy chili dip and a mild sour-cream like dip. There is also always another long dish of bonus food. Sometimes it’s a grilled onion salad, sometimes it’s a little salad, either way it’s delicious and a great way to experience new items on the menu! They also top up the table with as much flat bread as you can eat, always bringing more back for our dips.

Humus Kavurma

This dish was what started it all. We are a big humus house, with all of us eating humas at least once a week. When I saw a picture on Google Reviews of meat on top of humas, I was sold. I had to try it. This humus is topped with lamb, cooked in a bunch of spices, along with pine nuts and oil. It’s really delicious – probably the best humus I have ever had in my life, and with this sort of topping, it becomes super filling! We tend to eat this with the complimentary bread that gets placed at our table, and it’s a real hit with everyone.

Sucuk Turkish Sausage and Halloumi

Some of the table starters we always want to eat are cheese and sausage! The fried halloumi was delicious – exactly what you would expect and the Sucuk was well fried, not too greasy at all, and full of flavor. These are also really safe starters for both kids and adults to enjoy, especially if they are not familiar with the food or are picky eaters as they are very similar to other foods they may have tried.

Prawn Cocktail

Prawn Cocktail is something that Kai and Amelia always order when they go out places! This one came really beautifully presented, with lots of little prawns in a creamy, cocktail-tasting sauce. They both ate this up and enjoyed it so much, they continued to order it each and every time we have gone to Best Meze Grill – and each time it is absolutely perfect.

Chicken Shish & Adana Kofte

We have had both the Chicken Shish and the Chicken Shish & Adana Kofte, both of which are very delicious. The chicken is always well cooked and the Adana Kofte is seasoned well, with nice crispy bits! Every dish comes with a salad and then a rice salad with veggies in the middle. I quite enjoy these dishes and always have a great time eating them, even if Robin steals a few pieces after eating her kids meal.

Chicken Guvec

This dish was recommended by the owner; it’s a chicken stew with a tomato base, with mushroom, peppers, and onions in it. It’s a massive dish, which we ended up taking leftovers home from, that Kai really enjoyed. He’s not normally a fan of mushrooms, so it was great to see him eat and enjoy a mushroom filled dish, as well as eat up the leftovers the next day!

Overall

We have gone to the Best Meze Grill a bunch of times since the start of this year and honestly have never had something that wasn’t amazingly well made and delicious. We have had the deserts, we have had almost all the starters, and mostly we have had a great time. The atmosphere and friendliness of the staff is absolutely amazing, and the place feels like such a great place to eat – with the food being lovely to match.
