Big Day Cakes – Customisable Cakes at Asda

[Ad- gifted product] Sometimes looking for a last minute Father’s Day or celebration gift can be really challenging. I know that I have let dates slip my mind more than once, due to busy schedules and so much going on. It’s like time is always running forward! At Asda, they have Big Day Cakes, which is a cake stand that allows you to upload a photo and get it printed onto a cake, within about 5 minutes of arriving, which can really help for a customised cake in a pinch. This is a great idea for Father’s Day, especially as they’ve now got new designs.

Arriving at Asda, you’ll need to head to the cake section and find the Big Day Cakes machine, which is quite easy to spot with the flags! Above the machine, there are the different cakes flavor and sizes that you can choose from, primarily chocolate and vanilla sponge at our local one. There are also different sizes, one feeding 20 and one feeding 40, so you can get quite a big cake if needed. Once you have decided what size cake is best for you, it’s really easy to actually use the machine itself.

Creating a Big Day Cake is as easy as hitting start and exploring all of their different designs. There are tons of them for various occasions. In the Father’s Day section, Big Day Cakes has some simple designs that say I Love Daddy, for example, as well as frames for whatever picture you want to add. Recently, they’ve now got officially licensed premier league football team logos and designs, which are just perfect for the sports lover in your life, especially on Father’s Day. There are lots of ways to bring along your picture to the Big Day Cakes machine at Asda. I used my iPhone and a cable, but if you have an Android device, you can use Bluetooth. There are also spots for an SD card, a USB thumb drive, and even a scanner if you bring a physical picture that you want printed on your cake.

One you have your design and photo, you can check out what your cake will look like and change any of the text, along with adding more text. When you are happy with it, you can confirm your Big Day Cakes, which will give you a printed receipt to take to the bakery section of Asda along with the cake you’ve picked out. The lovely bakery staff do the rest, adding your image onto the cake. When we went to our local Asda, this was done within 5 minutes, giving us a little bit of time to check out the Father’s Day cards in case we wanted one to go with it.

The print on the cake is done using edible ink on a sheet of fondant. We picked the classic Victoria Sponge cake, which was moist and delicious. There is a ribbon around the base as well, which I feel makes the cake look really fancy! If you need a last minute cake for any occasion, but you don’t want it to feel last minute, the Big Day Cakes machine can really save the day.

Although I do a lot of baking, I’m not great at decorating my cakes. This service gives a great option for special occasions without the worry of getting things right.
