Finding Little Bugs with My Living World Bug Photography Kit

Bug Photography Kit

[Ad- gifted product] You’d be surprised how much these children like bugs. I feel it all stems from Kai’s ant farm, which is living in the corner of his room, but Robin also is a huge fan of bugs and bug collecting. She was very excited when she saw the My Living World Bug Photography Kit, which has everything you need to capture and take a closer look at the bugs that you find.

Inside this kit, you will find a pocket home, which can clip to a belt or pocket, to hold any bugs you fund. This home has a little magnifying glass, allowing you to look into the top of it. You can also place sticks or leaves into it, to make a longer term home for whatever you have captured. There is a little paint brush for carefully brushing the bugs off of wherever they are and into your pot. The really cool feature within the My Living World Bug Photography kit, however, is the capture device. You can pick from two different sized lenses and place them onto a smaller capture area. Then, you can clip that to your phone, so that you can take photos and see things a bit clearer.

This part of the kit is really interesting, the clip is further supported by a suction cup, and you are able to manually move it around. It took me quite some time to figure out which lens on my phone was the right one and to figure out how to get it to properly zoom – I had to lower my zoom by default to .5 – but once it was all set, we could see into a bit of the dome.

Robin went outside in search of ladybugs, but found a “friendly spider” and was obsessed with capturing it. We ended up getting it into this smaller capture area, and taking a look at it’s legs in detail with my phone. Taking photographs this way is quite interesting, though the bugs do move around quickly, so you will need to be quick. Robin was interested in just seeing the bugs so close up, instead of actually taking pictures, which is fine by me!

The book that comes with the My Living World Bug Photography kit is one that includes loads of information about a bunch of different bugs. Together, we read through about all of the bugs we had found – she didn’t want to put slugs, worms, or beetles into her bug kit and instead just wanted to talk about them as the friendly spider was her real friend and goal. This supporting book of bugs we could find is really well written and interesting – it allows Robin to really take an interest and learn from her experiences.

This little kit is quite interesting, especially for budding bug photographers who want to capture the experience in a much closer light. I found all of the pieces easy to use and put together, and Robin seemed to really enjoy capturing and carry around her bugs, as well as looking closely at them.
