A Birthday Dinner at Burger and Lobster Restaurant

Dann and I went to our friend Oscar’s Birthday Party at the restaurant Burger and Lobster. Dann and I aren’t fans of burgers or lobster, and with a name like this, we weren’t really sure what we were going to eat! Excited to celebrate with our friend, however, we headed there. It was actually an extremely busy day for us, so we arrived about five minutes late. There are a few different locations, so when I entered the one we were meant to be at and the manager said we were at the wrong place, that we needed to take a train, I really thought I had messed up, until he saw I was actually getting flustered and said he was kidding, offering to get us a drink. This manager had a lot of personality!

Mystery Cocktails

When we got to our table, out of breath and saying hello, the manager who greeted us asked if we wanted a drink. I said something fruity, Dann said something smoky, and this is what we ended up with! When the person next to me at the table tried to order the same drink as me, the guy explained it was just for me. So, really, I am not sure what it is. My drink was in fact very fruity and delicious, it tasted a bit like cherry and a bit tropical generally. Dann’s drink was sharp and smoky, which he quite enjoyed.

Oyster Mushroom Bruschetta

When it came to food, there actually was a fun selection of things not burger related or lobster related. I got the Oyster Mushroom Bruschetta, which came on a big bit of taste. There was plenty of cheese and plenty of slices of oyster mushrooms, along with a balsamic sauce. It was a little messy to eat and did lose texture as it got cold, but the starter was quite delicious in taste and we both enjoyed trying it. I am on a big mushroom kick at the moment!

Ribs and Mussels

I got some beef ribs as my main, which came in a barrel full of smoke – a huge display that I wish I recorded but I had no idea it was happening. The ribs were fall off the bone tender, in a nice smoky BBQ sauce that had some sweetness. It was a really, really delicious take on ribs! The mussels Dann ordered came in a big pan, full of garlic and butter. He devoured them and said they were cooked very well. The garlic butter was drinkable, so he asked if they had anything to mop it up, and some slices of toasted sourdough came, which he used as well. We had a lot of conversation throughout the meal, so were pretty full at this point.

Burger and Lobster might have a simple name, but the flavors and the food are spectacular. Even with such a simple menu, we had a good time eating, and maybe, just maybe, next time one of us will try the lobster.

Everything looks so good! I would probably have ordered the same dishes. Those beef ribs look so delicious! I wish we had a restaurant like that here in our place. I’d be a frequent customer for sure.
