Night out at Cammas Hall Bonfire Night

We went to Cammas Hall earlier in the year for Strawberry Picking and more recently for their Pumpkin Patch, but were delighted when Amelia’s friend’s parents invited our family to the Cammas Hall Bonfire Night so that all of our kids could hang out and have a good time in the evening! We had not been before, however they had, and we were pretty excited to finally try all of the food carts there, as it felt like the perfect excuse to try out dinner at the venue. It’s worth noting this event is paid by car, not by person, and only happens for two days of each year.

We arrived a little early and got a bunch of burgers, sausages and chili cheese fries. These fries were the highlight of our food adventures; they had a bean-based chili with not a lot of spice. The fries were crispy and loaded! The burgers were grilled on a big grill and came with crispy onions. They were pretty good with a great amount of cook on the outside. I had a sausage as well, as they were massive and looked fantastic. I really enjoyed the flavor. There was also a chicken and chips cart, but the chicken itself looked very similar to freezer chicken we’ve had before, so we passed on it. I do feel we should have tried some of the hot chocolate for the night, but as this is Cammas Hall, we all went with giant bottles of Apple Juice that are freshly created. They have an apple called Jupiter that ends up being in these juices, which is so fun. The last real food thing we had were the donuts, of course, closer to firework time.

The first hour or so there, we spent it eating food and trying to guess what pile of brush they’d light on fire for their bonfire. We did have a little map that said that the sand pit and other children’s areas were closed, so we walked around. One side had a music stage outside of the haunted walk, where the pumpkins were last month, which had music playing and plenty of area to dance. A lot of the Halloween decorations were still up, which added to the feel of the place. When the other family we were meeting arrived, Robin ended up playing in the sandbox with their younger one and climbing the tyres, which were both shut but nobody seemed to care after the fire was lit. We also spent a while playing around the various areas. It was really nice to meet up with another family like this!

Cammas Hall lit the fire right on time and we all watched it slowly burn. There were a lot of sparks that came through the air, so staff members were careful to move people away from the more dangerous areas. It was a big fire and very fun to watch slowly burn and tumble down. The fire did last quite some time and was still burning as the fireworks went on! We were moved over to the other area, where the music was playing, and a DJ started getting us to do different dances like YMCA and the wave across the entire place. Then, the fireworks started! There were five different songs that played to the fireworks, most of which I knew, which was fun. They felt well paced and like it lasted a decent amount of time. Overall, we had a fantastic time at Cammas Hall for their Bonfire Event.

It sounds like a great fireworks display and bonfire at Cammas Hall. We have a local one that we can see from our place – so sometimes we just stay in the warm. It’s not the same though!

My son’s high school had a few last year. This year they were supposed to have one (recently) but it got closed down for rain. The city has them at the beach sometimes too. Always a good time.
