Cartoon Art Museum – Lots of Comics

Dann and I headed over to the Cartoon Art Museum, which is primarily focused on comics and the birth of comic books. It almost feels more like a small collection than a full museum, but they’ve got a mix of classic comics, comic notes, and featured artists who are local and new. Along with this collection, there are a few little fun facts and bits of history, so you could learn a lot there.

When we entered the Cartoon Art Museum, you sort of need to walk through a small gift shop, getting to the first main room. All along the sides there are tons and tons of comics with bits of information about them. Some of these comics are quite old, with notes about them being the inspiration for classics we love today like the Peanuts. It’s quite interesting to see these different storylines and jokes that have changed over the years. In the middle of the room, there’s a table with books that feature more comics from the same creators as the ones around the edge of the room.

There are a few side areas to the Cartoon Art Museum, including a room full of animation in terms of comics. In this room, Tom & Jerry was playing when we entered on a large Tv. Around the edge, we explored a bunch of Disney animation drawings, which was very fun to see.Another side room acted as a giant library, collecting tons and tons of different comic books and story books that you can read within that room. This collection is quite large, covering tons of different comic creators!

The final side room was all about Batman. It didn’t have any actual comics or comic books in it, and instead had a bunch of replicas and prompts from Bat Man. I’m not sure if this room felt very in theme with the rest of the museum, but it was best to explore. My favorite part of the Cartoon Art Museum was the 3D comic, complete with blue and red 3D glasses, which just felt so unique. They also have a back wall which features a young artist, who had created comics about wanting to create comics! This was a neat feature and really felt quite nice to see something so new and personal to the area.

The Cartoon Art Museum also has some replicas of things like TMNTs and some merch from various comics littered about, which are always fun to see. We had a great time exploring, though it’s worth noting it’s on the small side, all being done within an hour.

You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!

That is the coolest! I love that they even have cartoons playing in the background. The graphic novel section sounds awesome.
