Cat Days and Woof Days – Cute Card Games

[Ad- gifted products] Another Monday has passed, and we did our normal thing of playing a new card game down at our local Geek Retreat! Armed with some milkshakes, Amelia and I played Cat Days while Dann and Robin played Woof Days. These are a two player card games that are quite easy to learn and simple to play again and again! Both of the games are created by Farplace, an animal rescue, with the money raised from these cards going towards the care of various rescue animals. They also have a board game we previously reviewed.

Cat Days and Woof Days are basically the same, with different presentations. In both games, each player has a grid of days of the week, presented by cards and a hand of cards (four if you are playing Woof Days and five if you are playing Cat Days). On your turn, you can either draw a card from the deck or play a card from your hand. Then, it’s the other player’s turn. These cards often have the animal of the game on them, along with how they want to be played. Some cats can only be played on specific days of the week while others have different needs around cats. The nervous cat, for example, can only be played if there aren’t any cats near it. The jumping cat must be played to the left of another cat. Some of the items within the deck aren’t actually cat toys (or dog toys, if you are playing Woof Days). These are sort of like actions; allowing you to steal another player’s placed animal or move one off of the day of the week.

You can use some cards to place more than one animal on a specific day of the week, but once one player has filled an animal on every day, the game ends after the other player has one final move. The cards have different numbers on them to tell you how many points you need to add up! Cat Days also has a special scratching post card that doubles the points on the day of the week you place it on, which can really help. Robin and Dann enjoyed Woof Days, which didn’t have this scratching post rule, though it’s quite similar.

Cat Days and Woof Days (along with their other games, like Dino Days) creates a really simple card game with cute animals. As long as you can read, you will be able to easily understand what to do. As this game is just a deck of cards, it’s very easy to take with you and play with a friend, wherever you are.
