[Ad- gifted product] Pancake has been enjoying new scratching posts lately and has been really going for it, scratching them up. He’s also a huge fan of cat nip, so when we came across the Cat Scratcher, scented with cat nip, we were really interested in trying it out for Pancake. He’s always up for a bit of scratching and smelling cat nip!
Cat Stuff’s scratches come in three options: Valerian scented, Catnip scented or not scented at all, in two different sizes. We got catnip, as previously mentioned, and I swear Pancake could smell it through the box. As I opened it in the kitchen, he was nudging the box and circling it, waiting for whatever was inside. With my human nose, I couldn’t really smell anything, but he clearly was smelling something! This was a good trade off for me personally, as I didn’t want something with an overwhelming ordor. Instantly, he started digging his claws into it, scratching across the surface, quite happy with this!
Unlike the previous scratches we’ve received, this one is made of corrugated cardboard and glued with starch glue instead of rope. It’s also horizontal instead of something that stands up vertically. These sit well in large windowsills or even just on the floor. They seem to hold up very well to scratching and are thoroughly enjoyed by Pancake! The Cat Stuff Cat Scratcher seemed to really help with Pancake’s nails as well, more so then the upright scratchers we’ve previously purchased, which is a major plus. He’s been chewing at his nails far less since it’s come into the house. Cat Stuff’s website mentions that you can customise the scratcher by drawing on it and adding your pet’s name to the side too, which is quite fun!
Often, he scratches the scratchers for a short amount of time, then just lays on it, dozing off to sleep on the little catnip-smelling area of the house that’s his own. If you’ve primarily gotten your cat the vertical, rope-based scratchers, I’d really recommend checking out one of these corrugated cardboard scratchers, if just to add variety in what they are scratching! It’s very clear to us that this cat scratcher is going to be well loved.
You can purchase one of any scent on Cat Stuff’s website.

The corrugated cardboard scratchers are a big hit in our house. Eventually, the catnip smell does wear off but you can purchase catnip sprays to refresh it at will. I am surprised by how well they last as I assumed that they would be worn out quicker given they are just cardboard.
Oh wow, the sprays are a good shout!
I wish I could get my cat to use a scratcher. He won’t at all. I’ve tried verticle ones and horizontal ones. But I am thinking the catnip might just do it. I might just have to order one of these to give it a try.

The catnip had him really at this one! He doesn’t seem to scratch when we are watching – but we can hear it and catch him sometimes! I think he thinks he’s going to be told off like when he scratches the couch! XD
Firstly, kudos on taking some really cute pictures of Pancake, it’s not always easy to photograph cats! We have some cat nip in our garden but weirdly none of the cats (ours or visitors) seem to be at all interested! Lisa
Thank you! I didn’t realize people just grew cat nip – maybe it needs to be dried for cats to care about it?
My cat was starting to scratch the carpet, for attention more than anything, (she can open the door herself but prefers us to open it for her.) I opened the cat scratcher whilst she was in the garden but when she came in she went straight to it and laid on it, rolled on it and then started scratching. My husband couldn’t get over the fact that she knew what it was for! Great success and I will probably order the spray too to keep it going.
I’m so glad it helped you! Our cat was well into scratching the floor too until we got enough cat posts and scratchers.
