Exploring Calton Hill in Scotland

When I first landed in Edinburgh, on my first ever solo trip away, I saw a giant tower on a hill and wanted to go explore it. I only had around 24 hours in the city, and though it was a giant hill, I figured it would have been a good place to really see the city from above. There are plenty of places to stay in Edinburgh, but I was just around the corner from this specific landmark. This turned out to be Calton Hill, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was actually the first park in Edinburgh, according to the signs.

The Colour of Dinosaurs at the Polka Theatre

[Ad- gifted experience] If you are a regular reader of our blog, you’ll know that we adore the Polka Theatre. This theatre is far more than a place to watch performances; there is a reading area, a building block area, a dress up area, and outdoor area – it’s ideal for taking toddlers! We’ve been going to the Polka Theatre since Robin was a toddler and she still enjoys the magic of going back. This time, we went along to see The Colour of Dinosaurs – a play that’s heavily music themed, including a real palaeontologist that had actually discovered what color dinosaurs are!

Jason and the Adventure of 254 at the Wellcome Collection

I had personally not been to the Wellcome Collection in London, which is a free museum and library that focuses a lot on health! There are a bunch of exhibitions, collections, talks, and different events going on, which all aim at supporting science that solves the urgent health challenges people are facing. I have a friend who’s very much interested in health and healthcare, and visits the Wellcome Collection from time to time. She took me to see the Jason and the Adventure of 254 time limited exhibition!

A Weekend Away at Ardencote Manor Hotel and Spa

[Ad- gifted experience] I feel like the last stretch of school is so busy! Being working parents, most of our lives are actually quite busy between school runs, meetings at work, and after school clubs we just always have a lot going on. That’s why I was simply delighted to have a weekend away at Ardencote Manor Hotel and Spa! We actually went Sunday to Monday, so the two quietest days at the Spa, to really enjoy some relaxing, peaceful time together.

Ardencote Manor Hotel has a bunch of different packages to fit how you want to enjoy your stay. We chose a package with a morning spa session, afternoon treatment, lunch, dinner, hotel stay and breakfast the next morning, to really get the most out of our time away. Having the option to include a few set menu meals is quite fun, as you really don’t need to worry about finding a place to eat nearby and everything feels completely booked for you!

Urban Limitz Trampoline Park at Harlow Leisure Zone

Robin recently went to a birthday party at Urban Limitz Trampoline Park at Harlow Leisure Zone, and then, of course, wanted to have her birthday there. We have done a lot of swimming at the Leisure Zone, but hadn’t tried Urban Limitz previously, so I went on the task of booking up her birthday. When it comes to booking a birthday party, it’s quite a task, as the person who plans parties only works a few days of the week and you need to call them, leave a message, then wait for them to call you back. There also is a huge amount of information you need to collect from each person attending the party, along with getting them all to fill out wavers and submit them to you.
