Midweek Meal Inspo; Mini-Meat Balls, Spooky Grilled Cheese, Orange Chicken & more

This week’s bunch of recipes is really chicken heavy – and that’s due to a lot of our fish and beef meals being ones I have already featured on our blog! As the weather got warm, we went back to classic comforts, and had a lot of dishes we have previously had. Orange chicken is one we have had before, but I figured it would be fine to keep one repeat in the post. This week, Robin helped a lot with breakfasts and with one of the dinners, but otherwise we were pretty busy and looking for dishes that could be made quite quickly!

Doughnut Time My Little Pony DIY Kit is magical!

We use to regularly do these Doughnut Time DIY kits during lockdown, when we were always looking for fun things to do at home. Since lockdown has long ended, we have actually not done one in a while. The other week, Robin had announced that she wanted to do one again, and missed them. So, after an explore of their site, we settled for the new My Little Pony DIY Kit, which is partnered with the newest My Little Pony remakes, that Robin had previously completed the game of and watched the episodes of on TV.

Midweek Meal Inspo; Salmon Rice Bowl, Spooky Stuffed Peppers, Peanut Noodles & more

This week felt like a really busy one! I am not sure if it was because the number of school trips that happened, or the fact that all three children are now in multipole extra curricular activities, but everything was very quick when it came to dinnertime! We also tried some new foods, which is always fun. This week, Kai wasn’t so interested in cooking – which is totally expected. He did cook dough balls and potato salad at school, which was very fun to try! Many of these meals were really quick anyway, so let’s get into them.

Midweek Meal Inspo; Crockpot Ribs, Beef Tacos, Chow Mein & more

This week, we have tried some new foods and some old favorites in our family. Kai was really interested in cooking a few of the recipes and even picked one out! Amelia and Robin had a lot of activities they were doing and felt less interested in cooking, which is always OK. It was also a week where we ate out for Dann’s birthday! Eating out from time to time is always a good break from making food.

Breakfast from Around the World

When it comes to breakfast in our home, we always struggle. Dann and I do not really eat breakfast – I am intolerant to eggs and dairy. Neither of us enjoy bread or pastries, there just isn’t a lot of options left. When it comes to our children, Kai hates eggs unless they are in something, nobody is a huge fan of bread, and they cannot really agree on breakfasts that all three of them like. In an attempt to find better breakfasts and encourage trying new food, we spent the summer doing Breakfast Around the World. This meant I researched a bunch of breakfasts for specific countries and made them for the majority of the mornings this summer holiday, so we could all try new breakfasts!

We did have optional “back up” breakfasts – scrambled or fried eggs, or a choice of cereal. We didn’t force our kids to eat food they didn’t want to eat, though we did give each item a good bite to try and then discussed what we did or didn’t like about each food.
