Garlic, Chili & Herb Focaccia (Book of Bread) | Recipe

Still going with One Recipe a Week project, we have been diving into different cookbooks. For Jupiter’s birthday, fellow blogger Claire bought her the National Trust Book of Bread by Jane Eastoe. This cookbook is all about the art of making bread, complete with beautiful, had drawn and watercolour images of the various breads that you can make. The first few chapters explain differences between raising agents, flours, techniques, tools, terms used when baking bread and more before throwing you into baking. Once you have a bit of an understanding of how to make bread, the book itself is split into different sections; Quick Breads, Basic Breads, Fancy Breads, Regional Breads and then Breads from Around the World.

Trouble finding Borax for homemade Slime

Thinking up new craft ideas for the summer, we figured creating some homemade slime would be pretty cool. The kids have never made homemade slime before and were excited to try it. There was only one issue: borax. we don’t know about you, but the only time we ever need borax is when it comes time to create slime. Borax comes in huge qualities, meaning that you’d need to make a lot of slime or store it for ages. We am not a fan of borax and do not use it for washing clothes or anything. So we started doing what any other person on the internet does; Googling for recipes that do not need borax.

It turns out, you can make slime with eye solution! After running out to the shops and picking up eye solution at Tesco’s, some glue , some bicarbonate of soda and food colouring, we figured everything was ready. When the kids came over, we dished out some bowl, divided up the glue and added everything together, allowing them to mix. After quite a bit of mixing, it became clear that instead of slime we’d created some sort of slightly sandy mixture of paint. Confused, we turned back to looking up what went wrong. The blogs we have read are actually US based, where they put – you guessed it! – borax in our eye solution. In the United Kingdom, the eye solution we purchased does not have borax in it, therefore the slime did not work.

How Having a Pet Makes a Difference During Quarantine

Everyone has been quarantined for quite some time now, which has been difficult and annoying. The lack of human contact, all of the events for the year being cancelled or postponed, many people have started the journey that is working from home. Shops have less food and items to purchase and more restrictions. I haven’t seen the inside of a Tescos for nearly three weeks. And all through this, I am very grateful for Pancake.

Pancake, if you didn’t know, is our british short haired cat who is so soppy and lovable. He is an indoor cat, afraid of the outdoors, who isn’t very much affected by all of this chaos. We are home a bit more, which he seems quite happy about, and our blog is having more to do with him, which means new treats and food. Pancake brings a lot of balance to my life – from the start he’s added so much joy. There have been downsides, like the fact that he has ruined a rug when he first got here, but these were to be expected. He’s a curious cat who loves to be cuddled, stroked, and played with.

If the Slipper Fits… – Children’s Book | Review

[Ad- gifted product] If you’ve been here a while, you know we are big fans of reading before bed every night as a way to wind down. When we were presented with the children’s book ‘If the Slipper Fits…’ we were happy to add a story about dancing to our collection! Ballet and dancing doesn’t come up often in the books we currently have, so having a new topic to add to the book pile is always welcome. If the Slipper Fits… is book three in the Sugarplum Stars series, featuring the same adorable characters who have different dilemmas to take on.
