A Birthday Dinner at Burger and Lobster Restaurant

Dann and I went to our friend Oscar’s Birthday Party at the restaurant Burger and Lobster. Dann and I aren’t fans of burgers or lobster, and with a name like this, we weren’t really sure what we were going to eat! Excited to celebrate with our friend, however, we headed there. It was actually an extremely busy day for us, so we arrived about five minutes late. There are a few different locations, so when I entered the one we were meant to be at and the manager said we were at the wrong place, that we needed to take a train, I really thought I had messed up, until he saw I was actually getting flustered and said he was kidding, offering to get us a drink. This manager had a lot of personality!

Lunch at Fireway Pizza in Harlow

We don’t often do lunch out, but on a particularly busy weekday, Dann and I were running errands in our local town center and decided to go for lunch at Fireway Pizza, who have a quite affordable lunch deal that essentially cuts the price of the pizzas in half, while keeping them the same shape. We both were up for pizza, so went in, as we never had actually ordered from here before.

Fireway Pizza is actually a chain that you can find around London and the few towns that are considered Greater London, though they started as one shop in 2016. Their pizzas are fired in a proper wood-fired oven, with fresh ingredients, which really makes a difference. The actual venue is very clean and well lit, with the pizzas being made right behind the glass counter, so you can see them. A lot of fast food places often feel less clean than this one, which is always a plus. Dann and I both got pizzas and a dessert.

NOT Korean BBQ at the Korean BBQ House Barbican

When Dann and I went with some friends to The Korean BBQ House Barbican, I was surprised at such a simple name and wasn’t sure what we were going to be eating. We were on a bit of a time crunch, and with 8 other people, so getting Korean BBQ didn’t make a lot of sense for us. I would have totally been down for a big BBQ, generally, so we agreed to come back sometime in the future and try that out. What really shocked me though, was how delicious their menu of not-Korean-BBQ-food was! We had a bunch of vegetarians and vegans with us, and there were so many good options for them too.

Meeting the Highland Cows at Redburn Cafe & Gift Shop

When we were staying with Abbey Holidays at The Highland Club in Loch Ness, we really wanted to see the Highland Cows. By “we”, I do primarily mean me, I think. Growing up, I had a cow. I lived in the countryside. I really do like cows! And these long-haired cows with their horns were very new to me, so I really wanted to see one and pet one in real life. I was pretty confused that we didn’t see any driving up to Loch Ness, so when we set out to the Redburn Cafe & Gift Shop, as they have cows on their property, I was very excited.

Hot Pot at Happy Lamb Holborn

Dann and I don’t tend to celebrate Valentine’s Day on the day. There are always too many people out and about, and we have traditions that we do with our own children that we prioritise. However, we do take a day out of the beginning of February and go out for Hot Pot. Hot Pot is one of Dann’s favorite things to have, and it’s a food that you eat slowly, while talking and hanging out, so it’s a great way to reflect on your relationship and each other. As a bonus, it’s absolutely delicious! This year, we went to Happy Lamb in Holborn.
