Novo Lounge Quiz Night – Great Evening Activity

Some evenings, having a local event to head over to makes a lot of sense for us. We are a couple that enjoys going out, so we have headed to Novo Lounge for their Quiz Night a few times now! Previously, we did check out a bunch of the tapas at Novo Lounge, but after attending like three quiz nights, decided it was time to right them up! At our local Novo Lounge in Harlow, our quiz master is a fantastic guy who is always full of energy. The entry price is £3 cash, which goes to a charity, and the quiz itself is set by Redtooth, and presented by Novo Lounge themselves.

Touring Redchurch Brewery in Harlow

Dann and I have been looking to do more local events in our town and came across the Redchurch Brewery, which offer monthly beer tasting and tours! Dann was very excited to try out new beers and had no idea that they did tours, so we eagerly waited for the date to come up. The Redchurch Brewery is a small local, brewery that brews a bunch of beers in massive vats. We got the chance to sample five different beers, all of which were made there.

The afternoon at Redchurch Brewery started off with a beer of course – their premium in-house beer. Everybody was given a half-pint of the ‘Redchurch premium lager’ while we were talked through the different parts of the tour. The tour kicked off with an explaination of the brewing process and what goes into making different beers and alcoholic drinks, as well as a history of the brewery itself and how it has changed owners over the years. We all got the chance to smell a selection of different hops and ingredients, and there was some really interesting charts that showed how different ingredients create different types of beer.

Bird Experience at Coda Falconry in Hobbledown Heath

[Ad- gifted experience] We have actually attended Coda Falconry‘s previous location, for an owl walk, during lockdown – but they have since moved to Hobledown Heath, a sort of outdoor adventure park that we also went to, before they moved there! Now that Coda Falconry is on the premises, they put on a bunch of free to view bird shows and have various, bookable experiences (including the owl walk), that also give you access to the rest of Hobbledown Heath too! We got the chance to do a 1-hour bird experience with Coda Falconry, which allowed our family of five to hang out with three different birds, casting them off and having them fly to us.

Sherlock Holmes and the Hunt for Moriarty at The Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch

[Ad- gifted experience] Sherlock Holmes is an iconic, household name, and as such there is a lot to live up to! We went to see Sherlock Holmes and the Hunt for Moriarty at the Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch. This performance had a lot of characters played by medium sized cast, with many switching characters throughout the show. Watson was both the character and the narrator, needing to switch seamlessly between the role. There were a bunch of costumes used to subtly change the characters as well, so that side characters were all different. These costume changes were quick, between moments, which was very impressive!
