[Ad- gifted experience] Dann and I love doing little outings, and despite living quite close to historical Cedars Park, we’ve never actually wandered over there. One afternoon, we decided to take a look around Cedars Park and try out the afternoon tea that they have at the Cedars Park Cafe, thanks to the BuyAGift voucher, which you can gif to anyone to give them an afternoon tea experience. You do need to pre-book the afternoon tea and cannot order it on the day, so ensure that you do so before arriving!
Cedars Park
Cedars Park is a very historical greenspace. This park was once the site of Theobalds Palace, which was the residence of James I. There are some lovely flower gardens and paths to walk around with in the park, which are currently in bloom in several areas. Walls surround different areas of the park, some fenced in as they have started falling apart, and others free for you to take photographs around. These walls were once apart of ancient monuments and now exists as ruins.
There are bocce courts that you can use if you are into that, as well as a Pet’s Corner and some ponds to explore and feed ducks around. The cafe actually sells duck food, which is very useful when looking to feed the ducks something healthy.
Cedars Park has a bunch of little models of what the grounds have looked like previously, as well as text that tell you all about the areas in Cedars Park. These little bits of information make this park educational and interesting, much more than your average greenscape. Once we had our little explore around, we decided to get our afternoon tea and check out the cafe.
Cedars Park Cafe Afternoon Tea
Cedars Park Cafe is quite spacious and airy, with a large outdoor seating area, so you can make the most of sunny days. Inside, there is a cafe area with standard tables, as well as a lounge with more casual seating and couches that can be sat on instead. It’s a lot of choices! As the lounge was a little warm, we sat inside the main cafe.
Our afternoon tea had a bunch of sandwiches, then an area of sweets, then some scones on top – the classic afternoon tea affair. The sandwiches included tuna fish and sweet corn, pickle and cheese, and ham and mustard. There were also crisps around the outer layer, which was a nice surprise and were really fun to eat in our tea!
The sweet treat area of our afternoon tea had a lot of sweet treats to be honest! I love the little chocolate cake with frosting in the centre, and Dann really enjoyed one of the custard squares. Not all of the sweet treats had two, so we ended up having some different bits and bobs, with Dann having a carrot cake and me having a different custard treat. It was interesting, but I do with there was two of each so we could have had the same experience.
On the top layer, our fruit scones were already filled. They had both jam and cream piped into them, so we didn’t need to add our own to the scones. These scones were very good, with a good amount of jam. The Afternoon Tea also had endless tea and coffee, with Dann getting coffee and me getting tea.
Cedars Park Afternoon Tea was a relaxing experience, and a very filling one. Any bits that we didn’t eat, we could take home if we wanted, which was nice! We ended up having a few of the sweet treats for later.
You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
I have never actually been for afternoon tea! I will have to change that as this one looks really lovely and Cedars Park looks like a great place to visit.
It is such a lovely thing to do!
I used to work near Cedars Park so I’d go here at lunchtime or after work sometimes. It’s a beautiful park and the cafe always did really good food. This afternoon tea looks delicious – I’ll have to go back and try it! 🙂
You really should! It’s lovely.
I absolutely adore this. I can’t think of a better way to enjoy an afternoon than with tea and sweet treats!

It’s so fun to visit historical places and see how things once were. It makes me wonder what people will think of our world in a hundred years. The food looks absolutely delicious, too!
Me too, I am sure we will have halograms instead of statues though!
